It's a common theme that failures aren't publicised in science. It's also less interesting as many vaccines fail during testing, it's expected, it'll get a bit of press but is quickly forgotten.

Have there ever been vaccines that have had similar side effects to the side effects that have occurred in the under 30's with the AZ vaccine?

AZ hasn't been licensed in the US yet, this wont help.
