VAT on education?

Fact. I know you don’t like it but it is. It’s compulsory for children to be on education up to a certain age. If there were no private schools, where would they go and who would pay for them?
Why won't they still exist ?

But pay there way like any other BUSINESS has to.

Like any other business, cut their costs, improve their product, increase the number of customers, or a combination of all.

If they can make money they will continue. If they can make money they don't need to be a charity

When I was in education, education services were VAT exempt. Had always been that way. I believe it’s also the case for private medical operations. I imagine it will also be imposed on small private education providers, pupil referral units and awarding bodies too. Seems mad to me. Can’t Labour see that private education and healthcare relieve pressure on the state healthcare and education services? Is it just spite from a party that despises those that can afford to go private?
I think a lot of it is jealousy, it is not seen as harmful to business, but plays to those on the left who Kieth has to throw some scraps to create the illusion of socialism still existing in the party. If it goes through those who pay for private education (like those who only use private health care) will have a stronger case for withholding tax that goes towards education.

Education is within the recognised category of charities, its how public education started in this country
Education will still continue.

Just that those getting private education will have to pay vat on it.

We need the taxes. Unless anybody can state why the state should support private education.

Not being rude in any way but who is Keith. I guessed its starmer but not sure. Thankyou.

Corbyn cultists claim Keir Starmers name on his birth certificate is “Kieth” and spelt that way.

Blup obviously spends his time in Corbyn fan club echo chambers where they routinely call him that.

10 A's, 1 B, 1C at 'O' level btw...
To empty bedpans and wipe bums. You did well.

No one is banning private education.

So far it looks like around 5% reduction in private pupils or around 30,000. That's alongside a demographic slump which means state schools had more capacity anyway as there are around 20,000 fewer children in that school year nationally.

The VAT will more than cover that cost.

Taxing those whose choose private education is a double whammy, as the state saves on the places their tax pays for. Some feel they have no choice if they have the money but the schools in the area are failing. Loads of Labor MPs were privately educated or privately educate their children
