Obfuscation. Approval is required.
Correct.

A woman can't just pop to the hairdressers and get an abortion approved, no.

All MBK's blather about the bar being low, or this or that particular language is not in the act, or you should use the word doctor instead of physician, is just waffle and deflection.

Abortion requires the sign off of two doctors whether he likes the law or not. And is usually done via a sign off on a HSA1 form.

going in circles more like.
Straight as a die since my first post. It's you that's trying to find a justification for your position.

What if the woman wants a termination because it is a boy, not a girl, and no other criteria are met?

Everyone on the forum has seen it that way too. It must be an embarrassment thing, for the wannabee solicitor.

Yep they sign off that in their honest opinion the criteria are met. The form is even referred to as a certificate of opinion. It could not be clearer. yet you maintain the woman needs the approval of two doctors.

They are not required to approve the request and their guidelines clearly state that they are not signing off that they approve it as the best course of action.

Sir Kier says no case:

No - you, denso, carman, notch have maintained this position.

everyone else god bored.

It's not a vote.. 100 people can be wrong. According to you 15M were wrong to vote Brexit.

Approval is required.
A study last year looked at allowing midwives and nurses to approve abortions. As of today, only (2) doctors can approve an abortion.

I'm not sure whether it's a good or a bad thing. I do think it would be more open to abuse though.

As the law currently stands, abortions must be approved by two doctors and abortion procedures are only permitted in either an NHS hospital or another setting approved by the Secretary of State. Nurses are not permitted to perform Vacuum Aspirations (VA) for abortions even though they can do so for patients who suffered miscarriages within 14 weeks of pregnancy.

Do you think there is an important distinction, both ethical and health-related, between the aftercare of a miscarriage and the termination of a viable pregnancy? And if so, would allowing nurses and midwives to approve abortions without reference to a doctor compromise the legal protections currently in place to protect both pregnant women and unborn babies?

source?

Notch wont be happy, your source calls them "unborn babies" apparently there is no such thing.

please quote it and provide the source.
Under the Abortion Act, a pregnancy can be lawfully terminated by a registered medical practitioner in an NHS hospital or premises approved for this purpose, if two medical practitioners are of the opinion, formed in good faith:

Two doctors need to sign off or the abortion WILL NOT GO AHEAD.
