I have been reading about it for a few weeks and it goes live next week

I can foresee accidents happening as the tailgaters slam into the back of your car as you go to turn left off the main road and a pedestrain/s are approaching the kerb to cross. Up until now, I give them a light, polite pap on the horn to let them know I'm there. The dangers when turning left and the incestual inbreeds that drive right up your backside don't allow for you to stop in case there is something in the road, etc.

Also allowed are two pushbike riders to ride abreast.

You have to give a pushbike rider 5 feet of clearance and I don't have a problem with that but it means going 3/4 food into the other side of the road and waiting to do so until safe to do so. This will get the inbreeds that drive up your backside in a bigger rage as they wont know the rules or like our PM, could not give a F.

I've been giving way to peddies like that for decades.

And always give pushbikes loadsaroom cos I ride one and know what it's like.

Where is the source of the first example of a change?
My understanding is the 'proposed' right of way always existed.
And Giveway to pedestrians at all times.

I don't understand, pedestrians have always had right of way, when vehicles are turning into the road the road they are crossing. It has always been the law that the vehicle drivers gives way. All they have really done is reinforce it and about time, because so many drivers ignored the rule, some even tooted at pedestrians crossing to move quicker. As a pedestrian, I do always look first, and if some driver is indicating I do sensibly let them go first.

When driving I do as FreddieMercury - lead them in slowly, rather than indicators and brakes, whether it be a turn, or a stop at the lights.

When tailgated, I love showing down through my gears (well normally from 4th to 2nd or 3rd to 1st) and watching their heads bounce forward when they realise, then crawling around the turning.

You just need take longer to slow down as you approach the junction, I've been doing this for years anyway.

That's the correct thing to do. Every road manoeuvre should be done slowly so you have time to react to any problems that might crop up. Speed kills.

Yes they do if they are already in the road, which is obvious, but the new law says you should stop mid-turn for anyone standing on the pavement waiting to cross, which is madness.

I've always wondered why some drivers tailgate, and by tailgate I mean so close that you can't see their headlights. Any theories?

Reduces possible impact speed and effectively turns the car in front into a crumple zone. Very selfish but that is the modern world.

As I don't want to be someone else's crumple zone I will gradually reduce my speed until they can get past.

Pedestrians have always had right of way when you are turning into a junction. Sensible pedestrians look for cars turning and wait for them to do so. Selfish/idiotic pedestrians just walk out and expect you to stop on a sixpence. Of course, if a tail-gater runs into the back of you then it is 100% their fault for not leaving a safe distance between vehicles.
Regarding cyclists. I was one for many years, (as well as being a car driver during that period), so know some of the things 'stupid' cyclists do, such as ignoring red lights, swerving to miss pedestrians crossing a side road or even a zebra crossing. As a cyclist I have been cut up by vehicles passing too close for comfort or sounding their horn as they try to turn left whilst I was cycling ahead of them and going straight on. I have always given cyclists plenty of room when driving a vehicle. Can't understand why people are saying this is a new law as it has always been in the highway code ever since I was a nipper.

Easiest way to avoid rear ending someone is to drive at a safer distance from them. Like you I slowly reduce my speed if someone starts getting too close and on one occasion I actually stopped because we were going to slow. Got out to ask him why he was driving so close and hadn't overtaken me and he replied, "My eyes aren't as good as they used to be so I can't see if someone is coming the other way." Beyond belief! I reported it to the police, (along with his registration), but don't know if they ever took any action.
