WARNING = Highway Code Changes - A disaster in the making

That's more along what it says now, those that ride in groups will have to consider other road users and move aside to allow them to pass when able to.

Cycle clubs don't like the idea, but then that's because they are all me, me, me.

I see nothing hard about the changes.
The media are explaining it all wrong though, they are saying that we "must" use the Dutch reach otherwise will get fined £1k yet it's actually only a recommendation.

I know I will not be stopping and getting out a tape emasure when going past cyclists as safely as I can so sometimes I may be passing at less than the recommended distance,
and sometimes more.

I think it used to state something like.....'Where safe to do so you may ride 2 abreast but move to single file if vehicles are approaching.'
I don't think so, but I'm open to correction. I think it was more along the lines of 'only two abreast'.

I remember that as "no more than two abreast" when I did my "Knights of the Road" badge. May be wrong...

does point out this isn't law, it's guidance.

I'm not sure it'll make much difference, except for vehicle drivers yelling at each other where one's an idiot. There may be a couple of test cases, but most will carry on as before.
Trucks turning left onto bikes has probably initiated it.

I always try to give them as much space as I possibly can.

You just need take longer to slow down as you approach the junction, I've been doing this for years anyway.
Done that long, long time ago it just aggravates the incestual inbreds. Possibly because we have a nice 4x4/cars and they are nearly new but I guess it's because they are inbreds may be the true cause.

I/we slowdown, indicate well in advance within reason of safety etc but it's only a matter of time before they crash into my backside, anyway.

I've been giving way to peddies like that for decades.

And always give pushbikes loadsaroom cos I ride one and know what it's like.
Though I don't ride a pushbike or the motored type, I have common sense and offter them loads of room but with this new 5 foot rule, I was mentioning what you can expect from the ignorant inbreds.

I also slow down massively for horses and never accelerate near them

High way code pedestrians

stop

look

listen hmmm that could be an issue with leccy cars ??

my old Harley of triumph they would have heard that coming down the road from half a mile away :)

loud pipes save lives ;)

This is why we are actively advocating they add additional sound/noise to elec cars/vehicles etc.

NB: Caution strongly advised NEVER assume the person you are encountering has full capacity, limited or next to none of their
visual and auditory functions!!

I don't understand, pedestrians have always had right of way, when vehicles are turning into the road the road they are crossing.

No they have not and that is a fact.

I've seen many drivers mostly of one sex stop in the middle of the main road to let a woman with a pram/kids cross the road. This can lead to accidents as tailgaters can crash into you or the vehicle on the other side may not want to stop and cause an accident.

Pedestrians have a right of way at official crossings and where signage clearly states so and nowhere else.

Should be a legal requirement for all push bike riders on the public highway should have to have insurance IMO

and some type of road tax

plus a push bike MOT / annual safety check

As I don't want to be someone else's crumple zone I will gradually reduce my speed until they can get past.

What, when you are near the left turn you want to make??

A friend of the family has a dash and rear cam and he has managed to send away close to 50 incidents over the last 2 years or so of tailgaters. Most he belive have been contact by the police and many may have been fined/etc. It is easy to send dash cam footage to the cops takes 2 mins
