Was Thatcher reallly that bad ?

the houses in ireland where bought as investments where easy lending led to house prices shooting up artificially almost like a pyramid selling sceme where the only end is disaster
this proves nothing other than greed and false hopes is no way to run your life or the economy

you either have to provide social housing or increase wages drastically to allow people to buy

So you provide a reason why houses where artificially expensive, then present social housing as a solution.

Y'know rather than eliminating the reason that causes the high prices.

it makes no sense selling off the social housing without building new housing
if the population is increasing then more housing is the answer not less
what we have at present is hard working people on benefits living in very very expensive private housing often with help from housing benefit due to low wages
as successive governments have sold the housing off they are all to blame
its not the fault off the tenants its the fault off all governments since the 80s

how many families where in private very expensive luxury housing in the 70s not many i suspect

No point arguing with Aronsearle about housing, he proved in a previous thread he did not have any idea what he was talking about

It's NOT the fault of the govenment that those people followed a low paid occupation.
That was their choice . At that time- jobs were 'aplenty'--and if they had considered further education or 'curbed their ill thought spending'- they could have bettered their position in life .
you have to 'give a bit to get a bit'--'cant have your cake and eat it, we reap what we sow, .
If you believe that all people should earn equal amounts -- you are condoning socialism.
They pulled a BIG wall down not so long ago-- and did it make those people happy ?. Some of them-yes'- but- that was the people who saw it as a opportunity to move forward and not rely on a government to 'mother them'.
It is the way life is - .
CANT blame everything on the government . Goverment will always be in a no-win No win situation.
NOBODY has a right to be 'kept'. Simples.

And you do? When asked how much housing is currently needed you replied "Lots".
A toddler could have done better ffs.
You're just another leftie socialist blinded by your hatred of thatcher.

So you provide free housing where peoples only interest is to breed like rabbits and live off the tax payer all their lives?
The welfare bill in this country stands at around 200 billion per year.
Where will it end?

A small village near me had a once thriving mill. The mill owner built hundreds of terraced houses for the mill workers and the workers saved some money and eventually bought the homes.

Have you noticed the key word here? A clue.. think of China!

During the sixties and seventies when the mill had closed many of the familes raised were large. Ten children and more in some of them.
All raised by the tax payer. Thats when it all began to go t*ts up.

one of the contributing reasons for increase in house prices via speculation/investment is the removal of social housing leading to more people renting as they can't afford a house have to rent. this inflates the rental income from houses therefore making them look more attractive as a speculation/investment opportunity.

So ? Aint that what investment is about ?.
Us people who invest in property-- 'take away a bit of comfort today' and sacrifice the comfort of today and invest in the future 'which may- or may not come for some of us .

The people who rent- dont think about the future-- because they always rely on being 'subsidised. kept - butts wiped etc .

Social housing should be removed- Full Stop.
They drain our society , and the honest worker pays for them-in tax .

Nobody in government should be made to feel guilty because he /she wont sanction 'providing houses for those people who dont/ dont want to work and chuck a few quid into the pot .
Let the freeloaders reap what they have sowed .

my rents for my houses have not increased for the last 6/7 years.
I value my tenants .

Are you going to break that figure down then?

The actual figure is £167 billion, amost £75bn pays for state pensions, Almost £50bn goes to servicing the debts.

Its very easy to manipulate figures
