But- when lots of them got sacked /kicked out- they were too old to buy a house -so they rented --just like snido does today..

I prefer to believe its closer to 200 billion as I don't trust government figures anyway.
And then there's still your 50 billion to service the debts.

you sell off housing stock it becomes part off the private sector so the cost to rent is greater than if a housing association owns it so no control over how much it costs to maintain with the higher associated cost to the housing department

i personally had my son ok it was my ex wife but i couldn't afford 2 kids and a mortgage on my wages so there i stopped but we need to remember many a person will be very happily employed for several years and have only kids they can afford but are you possibly suggesting we should restrict out breading to cover any eventuality if thats the case no one would have any kids incase they where made redundant
and before you have a dig at me please remember i am trying to be as honest and factual as i can be even iff the information i link to or mention is contrary to my views

and the comment about they chose those jobs with low wages or similar
a wee bit condescending not everybody has the choice skills or the luck to get close to the average wage
