What have you been doing today?

Enforced to sit down doing crosswords or surfing whilst my wife cooked a beautiful roast dinner for all the family, (12 people including 3 youngsters), then sat down and played a few quiz games. She won't let me help by lifting anything or put myself in a situation where someone could knock into my back so other than that, not much.

Took the sprogs swimming, home for lunch, back out again to get them both new trainers, on the way picked up a couple of skateboard rails FOC I found on Marketplace, 'de-twisted' one of the boy's wall canvases and fitted two canvases and his light on the wall, trimmed my beard and now finally sat down having a bite, standard Dad Sunday really.

Mrs Mottie has been running herself into the ground lately, working, running a house, caring for her mother and babysitting our grandson. I made her have a lie in this morning while I walked the dog myself (we normally do that together), I then made lunch, popped over the allotment for a bit of weeding and watering, came home and made a roast chicken dinner. Just finished making a fantastic stock from the chicken frame with celery, parsnip, sprouts, carrots, onion, garlic and peppercorns which will be used for a chicken and pea risotto tomorrow night. It's the stock that makes a risotto. (y)

Just nearly cut my little finger off!. I'd just made lunch and I had a very sharp knife in my hand that I had just washed - luckily! As I went to open the corner cabinet to put it back in the knife block, I somehow caught the handle on the other cabinet and it pushed it through my hand. Feck me did it bleed! Stopped the bleeding now but has gone quite deep. Wondering whether I need to go to hospital to have it stitched?

Badum tish, puns galore!

All sorted. Mrs Mottie hadn’t left work at the hospital so she quickly showed the picture to a nurse in minor injuries. She said needs looking at so I popped down there. They checked for tendon damage but was all good. In and out like a VIP. Just some steri stitches. She asked what the mark was on my palm and I told her it was a blister I got from planting potatoes. As it happened, she had just got an allotment and had her potatoes ready to plant so we spent most of the time discussing allotment crops.

This would have a good post in my 'Show us your gash' thread but it seems to have disappeared. (n)

Thats bound to make your 'trips down the allotment' feel a bit strange.
Especially as you try to turn those magazine pages over! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Planting tatties ;)
Yes! The end of the handle of the trowel brought out a mahoosive blister on my palm as I wasn't wearing my gardening glove. There is no corresponding blister on the end of me willy if that's what you are insinuating. Honest!

Mostly perfecting my KFC fried chicken recipe. KFC use pressure fryers, if you just deep fry in oil it is tricky to both thoroughly cook the chicken & not overcook the coating.

So, today I've done a batch in the air fryer, perfection.

All the best chef's are men :)

Made lunch today using the same knife that got me on Tuesday. I told Mrs Mottie and she shouted from upstairs for me to be careful. I played a trick on her. I splodged some ketchup into my palm then screamed and shouted "I've ****ing done it again!" She came flying down the stairs and I started slurping the 'blood' from my palm and telling her that it tasted just like ketchup. She was not amused. Went up and had a haircut. Came back and ironed my new dress shirt and started practicing full and half Windsor tie knots - m going to do it one day without referring to some instructions. Not today though. Mrs Mottie is on late babysitting duties today for our grandson and won't be home until 8.00 so I'm going to have a nice fry-up for me tea with lots of ketchup and a few slices of bread 'n' butter.
