What have you been doing today?

Conny, bless you.

I'm so sorry your other half is facing ill-health and all the battles that go with it.

I hope you are able to get the best outcome for her.

I've had a fun time the last few days.

Had what I thought was toothache a few days ago. Was about to make an appointment to see the dentist, when I woke up the next day with a blocked ear and severe pain.

Managed to get a same-day appointment with the quack. She couldn't even get her gadget in to look inside my ear, so she arranged for me to go to my local ED.

ED reception moaned that the quack should have issued me with antibiotics. I asked how she could have done that when my ear 'ole had swollen so badly, there was no hole to put drops in.

I was sent to ENT where a "wick" was fitted. A very thin plug of cotton wool. The idea is that the eardrops soak through the "wick" and into the ear canal.

I took the drops for a couple of days and went back this AM. She took the wick out and I am to continue with the drops and go back on Monday for another check-up.

Digging trenches and planting spuds over the allotment. I think I've broken my back somewhere!

Had a call from the brother-in-law. He's the first to go out to the villa in Spain - he was also the last in October 2019. The neighbour we had arranging the building of a little room on the back for had shut every window, door and air vent and the place has gone mouldy! Had to chuck away all the bedding and get new, all walls were covered in mould, sofa mouldy and needs replacing, there's been a leak from the roof terrace into one of the bedrooms, all the outside aircon condensate pipes had rotted and crumbled in the sun, the place stunk to high heaven as all the water in the toilet and sink traps had dried up and was venting direct to the sewers. The garden was like a jungle and a couple of the cypress trees had grown so tall that one of them had knocked a street lamp glass off. Oh, and he's swept out about 10,000 dead wood lice, cockroaches and beetles! He reckons about €4-5K to clean the place up and get it painted inside and out. We've decide to get it sorted and sell it later in the year - we probably won't be going out there unless we have to - Mrs Mottie has had enough of it now - we're normally first out there each year and I spend half my time fixing things - I don't do as much in our house over here!

More digging and planting of spuds today over the allotment. Thankfully that's all our spuds planted. I have Charlottes, Desiree, Kestrels and Maris Pipers. Next year I'm just having new potatoes and one main crop. Still plenty to do over there yet but I noticed that my Asparagus are starting to pop their heads up. :)

20 mile ride, thankfully my fave cafe has re opened under new management, cappuccino today, maybe a bacon bun next time

My wife had been playing two different companies off against each other in 'Chat' on Thursday evening. The guy in Sudbury was polite, calm and informative. The guy in Bury started to answer the same questions but after about 3 he simply snapped back, "If you are seriously interested in buying one of our products I suggest you come to the showroom and have a look. In the meantime stop wasting my time."
So, Friday morning finds us in Sudbury chatting with a very knowledgeable guy about hot tubs. No pressure, have a look around, lift the covers and dip your hands in if we wanted to, (we did), and if you have any questions I'll be in the office.
Came away after placing an order for a 5 seater plus 1 relaxer with water level surround lighting plus 2 underwater lights, an upgrade to a UV filtration system so it kills active bacteria as it's pumping, a full set up kit to balance the chemicals on start up with a 20% discount off our first order of replacement chemicals, 2 spare filters and free delivery and installation this coming Thursday.
When we first asked about delivery he said probably first week in May. I explained why we needed the pool, as opposed to just 'wanting' one and after a quick phone call he gave us Thursday this coming week so long as we would guarantee the access size was adequate and there would be someone to let the guys in. So two happy bunnies in our house right now. :)

Oh and today I have fitted, with the aid of my son in law and directions from my wife, a 4 metre extending sun awning over where the tub will go.

That's good service conny. Enjoy your 'sex pond'. (y)

Today I have been.....over the allotment! Started seiving the soil in what is going to be my carrot and parsnip bed. I don't want any stones sending my root veg off in different directions. Quite a few stones and pieces of broken glass in there though - probably one spade of stones for every three spades of soil. I was told that our allotments were once the local dump back in the fifties. I keep digging up ornate tiny medicine bottles. Good thing is though that the stones are going to be used as the foundation of my paths and I'll just lay wood chippings over them. When I've finally sieved it all, I'll mix some compost and sand in with the soil to grow the perfect root veg. That's the theory anyway!

Feck me! Brother in law is coming home tonight so he got an estate agent to value it and put on the market yesterday. Had two viewings this morning and it's sold already! Only €3k less than the asking price. It would have cost us nearly that amount to get the outside painted so we're well pleased. End of an era.:(:)

Popped out for some bedding plants and some to renew the hanging baskets. All them sorted and then relaxed in our new spa for two hours.
Life can be good sometimes.

We have just got home from our build and opened the windows and doors so that the smell of freshly spread pig 5hit can waft in:evil:

It's Miss Motties wedding tomorrow up London. She's booked a couple of rooms in the Hilton at Angel and we are staying here tonight and tomorrow, she's staying just for tonight obviously. Room's not bad, it's got a big balcony with its own furniture and we get use of the 'executive' lounge so free drinks and snacks - a bit like one of those airport lounges! I've been left on my own now while they've gone out to have their nails done so I might pop into the fitness room for a workout. Going out for a meal tonight just the three of us then an early night. Rooms got a nice view too as well as it's own lounge. The hair and makeup ladies are coming tomorrow early so I've got to make myself scarce - I've been told I've got to run errands in the morning. There's a white London taxi picking us up from the hotel and an old route master bus running everyone from the ceremony to the reception. Going to be a long day!
