What have you been doing today?

Made lunch today using the same knife that got me on Tuesday. I told Mrs Mottie and she shouted from upstairs for me to be careful. I played a trick on her. I splodged some ketchup into my palm then screamed and shouted "I've ****ing done it again!" She came flying down the stairs and I started slurping the 'blood' from my palm and telling her that it tasted just like ketchup. She was not amused. Went up and had a haircut. Came back and ironed my new dress shirt and started practicing full and half Windsor tie knots - m going to do it one day without referring to some instructions. Not today though. Mrs Mottie is on late babysitting duties today for our grandson and won't be home until 8.00 so I'm going to have a nice fry-up for me tea with lots of ketchup and a few slices of bread 'n' butter.
Serves you right if theres no ketchup left for your tea:LOL:

I'd never get away with this with Mrs Mottie around. Her late babysitting shifts are my chance for a dirty dinner!

Running data cables through a huge loft 60+ metres, dirty horrible place, went home and showered sat in my velvet smoking jacket with a glass of red opening my post, lo! a kind invitation to claim my State Pension, it must be a sign

Wife was chatting to a friend, she said she had been to Docs for blood tests, wife said I hope its nothing serious, "no no, I lost my parking permit at the hospital ( she works there) after 22 years and the only way to get another is to have certain medical conditions" so this exercise wasting NHS resources is to get her permit re instated

Interesting. Perhaps you should start a 'what has your wife's friend been doing today' thread?

I've amended your error, (if you can spot it). ;)

Been ti Ipswich so my wife could see a private consultant regarding her spinal problems.
Hospital have told her she needs another set of pain killing injections but there is a very long waiting list due to ................Covid! Now there's a surprise. So they suggested seeking a private consultation to see if they could get it done quicker. Obviously they can do it in a few weeks if we have £2,500 per treatment. They would need to be repeated every 3-4 months and the price may change because of price rises in general but he would be holding his costs around the £500 mark for approximately 12 months.
So thats £7,500 - £10,000 over the next year plus time off work to get them done, time off work for me to drive her, fuel and wear on one of the cars.
I asked if there was anything besides medication we could try to help ease the pain sometimes and he suggested going swimming, (we already do this twice a week), or get a spa. I said we have a hot-tub but he said no, a proper solid base hot tub is much more effective.
Looks like he has just talked himself out of some money because we have been researching 'proper' hot tubs such as those you get at CP and are going to look at some in the morning. At least after spending a few thou on one we will have something we can continue to use after 12 months.

Can't the NHS fund the private treatment? Nowhere near as bad but when I had a hernia repair, the NHS sent me to a private hospital to get it done.

We've had some strong winds today so I just nipped over the allotment to check everything was okay. All okay on my plot apart from a couple of empty compost bins that had blown onto another plot. I have a wooden shed and it was all good too - mind you, I have several bags of sand, cement and compost in there weighing it down. Those with plastic and wooden sheds didn't fare as well.

Thats the annoying thing. They suggest she sees another specialist for a second opinion but they won't/can't fund it. To get one from an NHS specialist will also take months just to get an appointment for a brief chat. What I find galling is, because she is self-employed, she actually pays twice as much NI contributions as a PAYE employee by having to pay Class 2 and Class 4 rates.
