What have you been doing today?

Yes that sort of Doom but a more recent one (the one before the current release I think).
And also Wolfenstien New Blood & The New Collosus.

I suck at them all but heck, it passes the time of day.

Out on the bike again - May Blossom (blackthorn) was spectacular, looked like a winter scene

ah, you've got the Suffolk elevating washing line. My Lowestoft aunts used to have those.

Are your posts old masts from fishing boats?

That's the supply to the cesspit pump. 2 years ago, after some storms, I noticed it was tilting a bit. Got a spirit level and protractor set up and the tilt was 15 degrees off the vertical. UK Power came out 2 days later and could only get vehicle access through the field. 3 vans and 2 lorries with at least a dozen blokes, (wife made 11 cups of tea/coffee for them and 1 refused a drink), to drill a hole in the ground, attach a steel hawser and tighten it up till the pole was straight.

You're lucky, got a better games console. I've still got just an xbox 360 and am outdated (well, it's the other half's). The original Doom my brothers had and used to play on the PC and it used to make me jump out of my skin, loved it! Used to play Doom, Quake then later Duke Nukem and we've also played the first two Wolfenstein :)

Many years ago I met a new games testers/developer company via work, and they couldn't believe that I'd already finished one of them (been out a week or so, lol) and they offered me a job. To this day, I kinda regret not changing my career path, ha ha.

What is your job Sod and how are you coping at the moment - have you been affected by the lockdown?
This and that... and yes, income gone for the time being and other half lost a percentage for a few months.. Luckily have savings as was saving up to move home. We didn't want to take on a mortgage so saved a bit.

Lol. Can’t beat a bit of this and that. I always had you down as a lady decorator, don’t know why. At least your other half is getting something and you have savings - plenty out there that don’t have either.

Nah, I like decorating and DIY but not my job. Not good enough to charge :)
Savings yes, we are very fortunate. Been saving every spare bit we had and going without for the last 5 years to get out of the hell-hole we are in with pubs and would've been ready by this Sept. This will put us behind but needs must!

Can you explain what you mean by your comment, " to get out of the hell-hole we are in with pubs and would've been ready by this Sept."?

The reason I ask is, my wife is operations manager for a security company and a lot of their work involves caretaking in empty pubs. Just wondering if there is a connection.

Yeah, live near 3 very noisy pubs, open until 1.30-2am, 2 of which are trouble (fights etc) and we need to move for our sanity. It's an unusual set up, a village and no other properties around other than residential which are very close. Our plan was to redecorate the house this summer and put the house on the market in the Autumn. No point trying to sell in the summer coz of the noise.

Conny, your wife's business stops what many of us residents have day dreamed about - setting fire to the bleeding things!

They put security in to keep the squatters out. Setting fire to a building won't stop squatters moving in and causing more trouble or damage. The company were due to take over a pub in the southwest a few years ago at a set time on a set day. When they turned up at the appointed hour the manager had vacated the day before and left the keys in an envelope sellotaped to the front door explaining what he had done. You can guess what happened before security turned up! It took almost 2 months to get them out and then only after they had 'planted' a 'squatter' in with them to safeguard the place while they went out shopping. After they had left he simply opened the door and walked away. Security moved in, put all their belongings outside and secured the building. They weren't pleased. LOL

It will if burned to the ground!!

Sorry about the squatters though and your daft ex-landlord. Doh!!
