What have you been doing today?

Early start this morning. Walked the dog locally before it got too hot, did a minor bit of weeding on the community flower bed and picked some chives to have with my scrambled eggs from the community veg planter - we have another one coming soon. Had a browse in the community book library but nothing took my fancy (our local councillor has applied for a red phone box to make the library bigger), went home, had breakfast, going up the allotment before it gets too hot. Yeah, looks like we have a community here. :ROFLMAO:

Went to the allotment. Had some help lifting my brassica cages off, stripped most of the lower leaves off of my sprouts, cavello nero and cabbages as they were heavy with whitefly. Sprayed the rest of the plants with a washing up liquid solution in my portable Karcher and refitted the nets.

Measured the girth on my biggest pumpkin. Should be a bit bigger by hallow'een. ;)

Went round my mums and dragged out my dads mobility scooter from the shed. Covered in cobwebs. Not been used for about 7 years. Still has life in the battery as my mum charges it up occasionally. Had a bit of fun chasing her dog around the garden until it realised it could hop on the footplate and get a free ride. I even had it in the front basket for a while. She's never going to use it so I’m going to pump the tyres up, give it a clean up and flog it. It’s a two speed jobbie (4mph/8mph) with lights, horn and suspension. My dad turned it over once going too fast round a corner!

BTW, thats not a bull bar on the front, it’s the attachment for the bad weather cover which has long since rotted away.

Just replaced the screen protector on my iPhone. I think I got the most out of it! :ROFLMAO:

Talking of which, the stair lift was loaded with bits and pieces, to go up stairs, so I pressed the remote to send it up and clunk! Dead batteries, charger working, so it needs a new pair of sealed LA batteries. It was installed for my late partner, she didn't make much use of it, but despite not needing it myself, I kept it as a handy way to move heavy items up the stairs.

There are two 12v batteries, cover off, the first came out easy enough, but I was stumped by the second one, and ended up unbolting the very heavy seat, whilst trying to work out how to access #2.

For anyone struggling with the same job - Stannah 2014 model....

The RH cover (as you are sitting on it) comes off after two screws are released at the bottom edge. That allows #1 to be pulled out. The horizontal under seat top plastic panel, then prevents #2 from being pulled out, due to it being too near to the underside of the seat. As said I ended up unbolting the very heavy seat, not realising that it could be horizontally rocked out of the way, to enable the plastic panel to be eased up to gain access to #2. The seat 'rocks', by undoing one large bolt hidden at the back, then several bolts at the front, behind the kick panel.

Woke up just after 6.00am and was in the garden having at coffee at 6.30am.
This was the scene that greeted us both. Sun just rising and a dozen sheep in the meadow next door.

That was followed by 6 hours of graft filling this 16 yarder, (8 tons capacity apparently), with years and years of stuff put in the garage, 'for sorting later'. A couple of thousand, (yes, THOUSAND), CD's, DVD's cassettes that my sister-in-law picked up over the years. Loads of old tools, ranging from spanners, screwdrivers, pipe benders, taps & dies, gas testing equipment, boxes and boxes of books. Some belonging to my wifes grandparents, (who died many years ago), with inscriptions such as, 'Happy Confirmation Elsie from aunty Nelly, 1911. Various other books with similar dates in. (Thes have been saved for posterity). Also found a small starting pistol and two small boxes of 0.303 bullets, (12 in each box), dated 1943! They will be taken to the local police station in the morning. As FIL used to do some work for a friend, clearing out pubs that were closing down, we also found boxes and boxes of glasses of all shapes and sizes. So many other things that we found that they are too numerous to mention. All that is left in the garage are two work benches, 4 sets of Dexion style racking, (empty), and a lovely roll-top writing bureau from about the 70's-80's in perfect condition. Stupidly, I forgot to take before and after pictures.

Is that your step ladder on the skip or is it your real one?

That is a large stepladder that we don't need. I have a slightly smaller one indoors and also two x 3 step ones.
Also have a 2 stage and 3 stage set of outdoor ladders.

I think you missed the joke there Conny! :ROFLMAO:

Just went to make the bed and discovered I’d been sweating rather heavily last night.
