What have you been doing today?

Went a bit further on my dog walk today and saw some Canadian geese and their goslings.

Went and did a 'small shop' at Waitrose as we have a delivery slot from Tesco coming on Sunday. Bloody expensive - came to £136 for just two of us. I blame it on the price of their wine! Wifey not best pleased and is muttering about taking away my shopping privileges. Privilege?

Saved about £300 on my car insurance.
Had a quote about £150 better on my Liability insurance as well... I need to look into this before I sign up.

I'm not clued up enough (or brave enough) to 'do the stock exchange' so max'd out on premium bonds.
Gateway to a fortune :ROFLMAO:
John :)

Partner and his dad have 90k between them in bonds and are a bit peeved that they didn't win a thing this month! They normally get around £75 each in winnings and about £500 a couple of times a year.
I've got £20k in bonds and never won a thing

Us too, had enough sleepless nights during the banking crisis, win probably every month, nothing more than £500 yet, tax free and as safe as it can be

Funnily enough, I topped mine and the wife’s up to £30k each on Monday. She was pulling ahead with her winnings on £28,225 and I was on £28,175. We usually always have at least one £25 win between us each month. Biggest win for me was 1 x £100 and 3 x £25 in one month. Better return than our ISA's - must look to change those as our Nationwide ones dropped to 0.1% the other week so would only get £30 a year if I had my premium bond money with them.

The prize fund has been kept at 1.4% p.a. but disregard the jackpot. You can expect to get mostly £25 or £50 prizes. About 99% of the prize money goes on £25 prizes. So on £20k with average luck you might get around ten prizes of £25 a year. Somebody else must be getting your luck. Or maybe you have not told them your new address? You can check your account online.

BTW it is a fallacy to think that new bonds are luckier than old ones. The odds of a £1 bond winning a prize in a given month are 24,500 to 1. There are more recent bonds active than old ones, so more often a recent one wins. If you buy new bonds they will not go into the draw for a month, so their chances of winning in that month are nil.

The prize fund is adjusted to be somewhere near savings account interest rates, so it used to be higher.

The government seems to have left National Savings rates high for the moment to pull in more money for the Coronavirus expenses. Another reason can be if they expect inflation to rise. Rates had been due to drop.

Sell them, and then buy some more.
But then get superstitious about it....!

Yes John they know my details.... !!! I'm not that daft :)
Plus I've been here for a few years.. not moved yet. Covid has put paid to that...

I might be stating the obvious but have you got the NS&I app? You can check winnings and unclaimed prizes. We never take the winnings - we elect to have them automatically re-invested. Perhaps yours are the same?
