What have you been doing today?

It rather looks like the north side of Kielder, maybe towards Deadwater Fell.....the area views are constantly changing due to forestry work.
Astonishingly beautiful.
John :)

I love Kielder, so remote and has a sort of eerie splendour. Spent a long weekend there some years ago.

For sure, one of my favourite haunts too.
Its getting better all the time with walking/cycle tracks all the way round. The cafe at Tower Knowe has become a trendy waffle bar  so no more bacon butties :(

Stayed at the Pheasant Inn, very pleasant. Very quiet as I recall. Fortunately wasn't midge season.

For sure, the Kielder midges are formidable :(

Yes, was great, the locals, knowing I grew up in Newcastle, tested me on my understanding of Northumbrian accents.... not that good as it turns out.

My wife is pure banks of the tyne mad geordie, I'm more your neck of the woods and from my mothers side I sound a fair bit mackem - I'm sure you can imagine the stick I get for that - my hearts black n white though

I'm not clued up enough (or brave enough) to 'do the stock exchange' so max'd out on premium bonds.
Gateway to a fortune :ROFLMAO:
John :)

My Mum had a small inheritance beginning of the year and bought the maximum holding of Premium Bonds. They've been entered in two draws now - won £75 in April and £50 this month. Think this sounds about average from doing bit of research. Poss better than the dire savings rate and wouldn't be sure where else to put money where it would be safe and get a reasonable return.

Strangely when she tried to buy the bonds, NS&I did a search of her name and found she already had some she didn't know about. Turned out to be £50 - bought in 1957! She has no idea who bought them - poss her father, but 50 quid was a fair sum over 60 years ago. Checking the prize history for these, we found that they had won zilch over the years. Bad investment.
