What have you been doing today?

Did absolutely nothing on the kitchen today except clear out all my tools and put them away, take up the protective floor covering, vacuum and dust. Might have tomorrow off as well.

Borrowed my techy IT lad and we went to my Mum's to rejig some recessed lighting in the lounge. It's the beginning of a mission to convert all SELV fittings to 230 LED GU10s.

I am not safe to climb ladders, so he was my apprentice.

He's very good, but he struggled with the cheaper junction boxes me and Mottie were discussing.

I find them OK, but I guess it comes with practice.

I gave him a non MF JB and he was OK. It is accessible via a down light hole.

Next on the list, four more in the lounge and three in the bedroom, then shoiteloads in the kitchen.

Ma will be saving a fortune once all those 50W lamps are swapped over for LEDs.

I had 8 50W downlighters in my kitchen. I swapped them for LED's about 4 years ago. Apart from the saving in electricity, I haven’t changed one of them since. I used to buy those bulbs 10 at a time and they were always blowing.

Probably need to turn your heating up this winter. Those halogen downlighters pump out quite a bit of heat. Gradually changing mine over to LED.

Did bit more pottering about, in my garage and workshop, generally tidying, cleaning, clearing out, reorganising, whilst keeping an eye out, for my yellow router. I found the router bit kit for it, found all the accessories for it, just couldn't find the yellow router itself. Despite an eye open especially for it, and it being I thought, bright yellow - for three days, I couldn't spot it.

Finally found it an hour ago - it was grey, not yellow, and in the place I put all my electrical tools, a repurposed filing cabinet, though buried, under a few more items.

My compressor has fixed pipework, around the place, and has been losing pressure for several years. I always assumed it must be the pipework leaking. I finally got aroundtuit, disconnected the pipework, and found it still losing pressure. A closer investigation, found it was the water drain in the tank base, the O ring passing. A new O ring, and it now holds up for weeks at a time...

If I was you, I would work tomorrow and have a rest on Sunday.
I’ve got to work this Sunday in my part-time quality assurance job. I don’t usually work weekends but I’ve got to check on some students and assessors that are finishing a course of weekend sessions and tomorrow is the last day.

Took the dog for a walk up to our local dog-friendly department store to look at induction pans and other kitchen niceties. Then took her for a ride up to pets at home to buy some bird seed and dog treats. Picked up Mrs Mottie from the hairdressers and then we went to the care home, collected her mother and took her round to our sons for her to see her new great granddaughter for the first time. We went loaded with presents that friends and relatives had dropped round to us for the baby. Our daughter and her husband met us there too so four generations of the Mottie clan were in the same room. Took the MiL back to the care home, went home and while Mrs Mottie was cooking the tea, I popped over the allotment for a quick watering and to harvest some asparagus for my breakfast tomorrow.

Dropped second - born at work, drank tea and ate Greek yoghurt and fruit breakfast, swam openwater, fetched second-born, went to tip, cooked tea, now drinking beer and watching England's reply to the aussies in the T20

Berkeley Enthusiasts Club annual meeting today so trip down to Nether Heyford for me to see some other owners and their cars. Mine is still in bits.
