What have you been doing today?

Put a stair gate up today. Not a great job with a raging HO (is any). Sweating like a pig.

I'm on my way to Stortford to pick up some bread the back way. This will be my longest cycle ride.

Took some food down to the MIL along with a flask of tea so we could go round the side and sit and have a safe-distance chat in the garden. Of all the fine weather we’ve had lately, we had to go and pick the coldest, windiest day to do it - whilst wearing shorts, a polo shirt and sliders! Bloody perishing it was. Glad to be back home with the heating on.

Checked how many miles I've driven since the cars last MOT. 503. Last full up 14th Feb. Still over half full.

Walked my dog round to my mums today. There was a terrible stink and a damp patch on her patio when I went in the side entrance. Turned out that next door’s drain was blocked between their house and my mums and stinky juice was seeping out of their manhole cover and trickling into my mums garden. I knocked and told them to get it sorted. They were pleased because they had been smelling it too and wondered where it was coming from - their side entrance where the manhole was situated has a 4” layer of pebbles on top - they hadn’t been there long and didn’t even know that there was a manhole cover under there.

Erm, you usually only put stairgates up to prevent small children getting up/falling down them. Has there been recent developments in your household that we are unaware of?

I've been on my knees for about 4 hours stripping out tons of periwinkle from the flower beds. Looks nice when it's behaving as ground cover but when it starts climbing between the rose bushes and other plants it becomes a right pain! Then an extra 2 hours mowing the lawns and brushing the gravel pathways. Feeling a bit weary so a quick look on t'internet and then a nice hot shower.

Grandchildern  At least I had the sense to know that in this house, absolutely nothing is perpendicular, so at least had the nous to not hang said gate flush to the well off vertical posts (they're probably about 5 deg off vertical) All is good.

I think I might go for a game of golf and then pop to the garden centre on my way home. Shouldn’t be busy.

Need to fit a new mesh to my screen door after my granddaughter split the current one with her Spinosaurus fin. :(

Tidy up some lavender and train some mock roses in the Alice in Wonderland section of the garden.

Just in from my morning ride past the golf course, full car park & many golfers, cup of coffee and listening to Popmaster, armoured cable to terminate in prep for tomorrows job

Just taken a freshly baked loaf out of my breadmaker. I’m having the buttered end crust while it’s still warm. Delish! :)
