What have you bought today?

Bought Bill Bailey's Bird Book and plan on sending it to mot so he can tell the difference between a raven and a jackdaw.
Save your money - I know the difference! The area I go is rife with Jackdaws - here’s another shot of the same bird - you can see the blue eyes in that photo.

Saw a pile of small black feathers today, near to the tree I put it in. Somethings been eaten, possibly the one from the other day. :(

I would'nt buy from Currys if it was half the price.
Had a fridge from Currys a few years ago now. Bleeding thing was Which recommended too...

Went wrong many times and eventually they said they weren't going to fix it anymore.

When it next went wrong I rang up and they insisted I was no longer covered. After arguing about the CRA 2015, they eventually relented and agreed to refund the majority of the cost. It's a great internal size for its external dimensions (the main reason we were attracted to it) but as far as reliability goes, it's a dog.

Some under cabinet lights for the kitchen.

A box of polyfilla

A marked down ham and leek gratin for one and some fine green beans from Sainsbury’s for tomorrow nights dinner.

Avril is having a go at making a chicken en croute for tomorrow's dinner, sounds complicated - wish her luck!

She bought a pack of ready cooked chestnuts, to go with the recipe. Last time I remember eating chestnuts, was as a kid, and raw, ripping my thumb nails off trying to get the shells off - I just has to try these, delish.

A quiche Lorraine for 30p, chicken Madras and rice for 23p, box of mini sausage rolls for 22p, large, quality pizza for 40p. There was a lad who only seemed to be a teenager reducing the goods in the Morrisons reduced items fridge. Never seen items reduced so much. Maybe he is just tired of working there?

Those prices are nearly half the original prices! ;)

We are doing even better than that - Lidl often heavily discounted, sometimes free items on their app, you just need to claim them via the app.

I must say, I don't agree with these loyalty schemes at all, I would rather they just discounted for all their customers.

A replacement 18v 4aH battery, for my old Makita combi-drill. I bought it as a kit, with three Ni-cad batteries, none of which survived very long. A few years ago, I re-celled one of the three, with Ni-Mh cells, then bought a Parkside kit, so it's not had much use since, until I revived it last week, and found the re-celled unit still good. So this week, I looked at recelling a second one. Cost wise, cells, versus a cheap Chinese copy, it seemed not worthwhile, so I ordered a ready rolled. The only thing, how good will it be? Seems OK at the moment, but I'll open it up and have a look in later, once it's fully charged.

I've just ordered a mechanical count-down timer/switch, for the compressor, in my garage....

I have a habit of turning the compressor on, to build up pressure to use, then forgetting to turn it back off. Result is, it can start up again, in the wee hours, to make up lost pressure. Idea is - dial in an hour's run time, after which it switches off, until next time it is needed.

I used to have an electronic run timer on it, but that failed permanently on, a few years ago.

20240615_130627.jpgI use this for that kind of thing. A press of the button gives 30 minutes run time.
