What have you bought today?

Bought another vacuum cleaner today. I suffer from dust allergies and keep creating more dust in my house. So bought a
Vax Gator 10.8V Handheld Vacuum Cleaner to try to keep on top of it.

Last week I bought a cheap vac from B&Q for the building work.

Trying to buy more tiles today too.

I am spending like it's going out of fashion.

I used to see those on building sites in Oz in the 80s, beans in toast over a fire

We got rid of our vacuum cleaner as it was just collecting dust.

A big OUCH! to my wallet today.

Just had to get my track rods, stabiliser links and a coil spring replaced on my car. £215 !!!
But at least it's safe and roadworthy again.
All started on Saturday after driving over a sewer lid when I heard/felt a big bang as though an animal had run into the side of my car. Turned into the nearest road to have a look but could not see any damage. However, as I was driving away I could hear an unusual 'rattling' type of noise so turned round and went to go back home. As I passed the garage in the village he was tinkering with his own car so I pulled in. He agreed to have a look on Monday and got it fixed for me today. Great service because he knew I would need it by this weekend and did it so I could make sure I was happy with it in plenty of time.

Just spent £700 on wifes car, following day had notification from HMRC re a tax rebate for over £900

Just had a call from a different garage who are repairing my wifes car.
She needs a new exhaust emission temperature sensor replaced. Apparently it's something that controls the overall engine heat, turning the fan on when the engine gets to a certain temperature and if it fails the engine can heat up so much that it can seize.

Would you believe the cost of this is also £215.

Two separate cars in 2 separate garages with 2 separate faults and both costs come to £215 each
I could start think something was going on if the garages were next to/close to each other, but one is 2 miles in one direction and the other is 4 miles in the other direction and both are independent businesses.

I bet if they tax man contacted me, for a shortfall of tax, how much it would be for!

Just ordered a new rally strap for one of my watches. £35. The last leather strap was a genuine Omega one at £160 plus another £160 for the clasp. Because I chop and change my straps about on my watches, I reckon I only got 6 months use out of it out of the 18 months I had it. The clasp is on my other Omega now so I’m going to see how long the new strap lasts.

Today’s boredom purchase is a £13 mini camping cooker so that I can have a brew when I’m over the allotment. Maybe a cheeky bacon or sausage sandwich or even a dirty burger. ;)

Got 2 of them and half a dozen gas canisters in my shed in case of power cuts. Big enough to do yourself a bacon & egg butty when you are at your allotment.
Great for camping as well.

I have two of those gas rings. Got them from Halfords when they had a super-silly bundle offer where I bought two rings and 8 gas canisters for £25.
They're great. Don't just use them for camping either. Have used them to supplement the BBQ and when were temporarily without a hob.

We can't do camping anymore so haven't used one for that past time for a few years. However, they are very handy tohave for emergencies in the home.

Up in the loft with my fishing gear, I have a Coleman Primus cooker that runs on Coleman fluid or unleaded petrol. A bit like the old fashioned blow lamp where you pumped it up to get it going then the flame playing on a tube used to keep the pressure up. Used to use it a lot in winter when the gas canisters would freeze. Last time I looked at it about 5 years ago, the seals had perished on the pump bit. One of these:

Pretty sure I had some kind of toaster attachment for it too. I used to do some wicked fry-ups when we went night fishing. Practically a Full English!
