OK. Thanks. So the Building Regs define an 'electrical installation' as that which involves fixed cabling and/or fixed equiment. That merely means that Part P doesn't apply if the cabling or equipment is not fixed - but I'm not sure that helps to move us much further forward in this discussion. As we know, even when Part P does apply it merely requires that reasonable provisions be made to protect persons operating, maintaining or altering the installation from fire or injusry.
