Correct. But as Darwin formulated that theory nearly 200 years ago, it has been superceded somewhat.
That part of Darwin's theory is not taught in schools. Neither is his idea that new species could be created.

Only parts of Darwin's theory has been superceded by modern science. The parts referred to above have been superceded, but his main theory of evolution is recognised as appropriate, except by proponents of creationism, etc.
Of course, creationism is also taught in schools, in religious education.
Darwinism, as a concept, has a different meaning on the other side of the pond, where it is almost a pejorative term used by creationists.
