So how does this figure then?

It won't register with them. No matter how many times you point out the logical inconsistencies and incoherence of their views. They will briefly go quiet, then carry on. They are brainwashed telly tubbies. The psychos in the idiot box have them all wrapped around their little fingers.

Probably will have to go via Google.

Anyway, he's just explaining that 300,000 civilians died in Iraq but nobody accused the US and UK of committing genocide. He also refers to the cases of journalists and aid workers being killed during that war. One British reporter and his colleagues were killed by the US but nobody has ever been brought to justice.

But we now see a different attitude with Israel. My thoughts now: Bearing in mind that the Iraq war was pointless and there were no WMD, whereas Israel faces an existential threat, this is all the more peculiar. The US did not need to be in Iraq, causing all that carnage, thousands of miles from its borders. It was a more perverse conflict.

Why is Israel held to a different and seemingly higher standard...?

Of course they did!!! There was an enormous outcry here about the civilian deaths, and millions marched against the war both before and after the invasion.

I don't recall reading the words Genocide or apartheid in any of the the reporting, and the marches as I recall were less frequent than the pro palestinian marches, Jewish schools weren't forced to close etc etc.

Precisely.

And I'll ask again:

Why is Israel held to a different and seemingly higher standard...? Higher than the world's policeman - the US.

I can't read the article. But I remember the public outcry in the UK against the war in Iraq was on a much bigger scale than against the war in Gaza. We had millions of people marching. Less frequent but much bigger.

Who is using the words genocide and apartheid? I don't watch the news.

Hang on.

I remember the protests well and agreed with them. There were a couple of major protest marches and there was a lot of grumbling in general.

This was by British people protesting on British soil about the British government participating in the pointless and barbaric destruction of a country, which killed 300,000 and was based on a pack of lies. Iraq is still a disaster zone now as a result.

The mayhem we are now seeing on London's streets every week for the past 7 months, plus the hijacking of our democracy, are by a large proportion of foreigners, about a conflict the British government is not involved in, about a conflict that is none of our business and we cannot meaningfully change.

Clearly very different situations. Point is though, Israel's actions are of a far lower magnitude and evil - bearing in mind the relative circumstances - than the Iraq war. This is obvious. Iraq posed no threat to the US, and the level of destruction was out of all proportion. Turns out the reasons were made up! Israel is fighting a hostile enemy that it shares a border with. Can you imagine the response of the US if Mexico was firing rockets at California on a regular basis and then sent troops in to rape and murder women and children? Ya...

Specifically, the article is referring to workers who have been killed and explaining that this was also the case in the more pointless and unjust war in Iraq led by the world's policeman.

It is disgraceful for our pork faced foreign secretary to be lecturing Israel. There is a side story here that our political establishment appears to be **** scared of the large numbers of aggressive loonies - who they let in - intimidating them on the streets of London. Might be worth remembering that a Tory MP was hacked to pieces not so long ago whilst meeting with his constituents...

Point remains, Israel is being held to a very, very high standard. Strange... I wonder why...

Could it be anti-semitism? By a certain demographic and the sorts of lefties who never stop crying on about racism..?

If you wish to compare Saddam Hussein with Benjamin Netanyahu, go ahead. If you're going to play the numbers game then you need to find statistics for how many Palestinians have been killed since 1948. More than half a million, i bet. You'll also have to take into account the number of civilians still living in refugee camps or those displaced around the world. It's a zero-sum game, all this whataboutery.

meanwhile...

Israel’s military campaign in Gaza has brought “relentless death and destruction” to Palestinians in the strip, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has said. In a speech marking six months since Israel’s war on Gaza began, the UN chief said that “nothing can justify the collective punishment of the Palestinian people.”
