An Israeli investigation has found that an Israeli woman who was seized during the October 7 Hamas attack was “most likely” killed when an Israeli combat helicopter fired on her kidnappers’ vehicle. Efrat Katz and most of the fighters in the vehicle were killed when the aircraft fired on them, the army investigation said on Friday.
The army statement said the mistake occurred because surveillance systems could not distinguish captives from kidnappers once in a vehicle, and that “the shooting was defined as shooting at a vehicle with terrorists”.

A soldier can be trained to carefully consider the need to shoot and to also consider collateral damage. An alternative is to forget all of that and shoot if there is the slightest suspicion. Hence a couple of Israeli waving white flags being shot by their own side. Then comes kill zones. Anyone seen in them will be shot. Hospitals - stay in there, come out and you will be shot. The World Kitchen people - very marginal doubt about them so hit with a drone.
In some ways this area relates to critical comments coming out of the US and too many deaths. They are being too indiscriminate. Big bombs on civilian buildings if there is the slightest sniff of a reason for it. Also infrastrure when there is no real reason for it.

Not at all. I'm just putting the situation in context and questioning why people such as yourself are so logically inconsistent. And why you apply different and much higher standards to Israel specifically.

Let's try a little thought experiment...
Mexico decides the people of the United States and their country must be erased from the face of the earth. They launch rockets at the US states of California and Texas, all day and all night, for years on end. They even send in troops to gang rape and murder women and children in a small town in New Mexico.
... do you imagine that the US would care what you think about what their response ought to be? Do you think the regime newspapers and TV would take Mexico's side? And what do you imagine the US response would be?
Let's be honest. The scenario is impossible. Had the Mexican government sent even a couple of misses over the border, the US wouldn't set up a defence system to live with it as an ongoing threat, and they wouldn't try to live with their sworn enemies such that the rape attack could ever occur.
Mexico would've been bombed to smithereens, invaded, and its government toppled after the firing of one missile. And you would support it.
