Zion and the Art of Armageddon

As of 2023, the world's core Jewish population was estimated at 15.7 million, half of those in Israel. Adherents of Islam constitute the world's second largest religious group. A projection by the PEW suggests that Muslims numbered approximately 1.9 billion followers in 2020.
As of the year 2021, Christianity had approximately 2.38 billion adherents and is the largest religion by population respectively.

Roughly half the population of the planet have a vested interest in events in Palestine and this is reflected in the number and range of demonstrations for/against this war by both sides. The question should really be; why is Israel losing the PR campaign after suffering the initial attacks on October 7th.

Rockets. They are no where near as powerful as bigger bombs - not the ones HAMAS use anyway.
There has been a report that HAMAS made some efforts to make sure only they fired them.

Since then (August 2014 data), almost 20,000 rockets have hit southern Israel, all but a few thousand of them since Israel withdrew from the Gaza Strip in August 2005. Hamas justified these as counter-attacks to the Israeli blockade of Gaza. The rockets have killed 28 people
There may be accurate numbers on the injured. Vague numbers are usually mentioned

According to OCHA ~6,000 Palestinians killed between 2005 and 2022 with ~2,000 of them around 2014

For most people in the UK, I would imagine it is simply about supporting the underdog. The idea of an extremely wealthy, high tech military superpower, using overwelming force to systematically pulverize a population living in poverty, who have no way to escape, is extremely distasteful. If you then add in the policy of deliberate starvation and indiscriminate attacks on aid workers, I'm not surprised opinion has turned against them. It would be exactly the same reaction if the roles were reversed.

Jonathan could add an oppressed people. They are even when just the West Bank is considered.

They managed to knock out 500 of their own people at the al-Ahli Arab Hospital with a not so well aimed rocket.

So it comes back to leftist psychology then.

Hating the more successful and advanced group because of their own feelings of inadequacy. Supporting the so called underdog, no matter how stupid, immoral and aggressive that group is, whilst also failing to recognise that these shortcomings are precisely why they are the weaker side in the first place.

Plus some good, old fashioned anti semitism sprinkled over the top, which shall remain buried in the dubious logic...

I think thats very much true

the people in Gaza are trapped and they are being bombed relentlessly.............fair minded people dont like that.
there is growing global condemnation

only the less intelligent or the heartless are still making excuses for Israel and its leader

and that question is easily answered..........constant bombing of quite poor people who are trapped, is not the greatest PR

Israel has a lot of bomb shelters, an awful lot. Think there were around half a dozen on the small kibbutz I stayed at, must be shed loads in Tel Aviv.

If Hamas are capable of building 400 miles of tunnels to ferry combatants, is it not unreasonable to think they could have used some of their vast wealth to build a few bomb shelters for it's civilian population?

the people of Israel have suffered terribly from Hamas terrorism for decades, but the images coming out of Gaza are horrific

Im not sure I can agree really

Forget that 'leftist' nonsense; this is about Illegal land grabs by Jewish settlers in the West Bank and suppression of Palestinian rights in their own country. The roles were reversed in the 60s and 70s but events since Netanyahu took over the government have steadily eroded public support.

Genocide in Gaza load of nonsense

;)
You need to consider the genocide laws which are not as straightforward as you might think. The reason for population increase is simple.

The Palestinian territories of Gaza and the West Bank comprise one of the few places outside of Sub-Saharan Africa to have a median age — the age at which half the population is older, and half younger — below 20 years. It is estimated to be 19.6 for this year. Syria, by comparison, has a median age of 22, while it is 24 in Egypt and Jordan. Israel, at 29.1, is closer to the global figure of 30.5. In the UK, the figure is 40, while in Japan it is 49.1.

The demographics have been like that for a long time. Life expectancy is ~75.
