325 million barrels.

That is not true. Complying with unnecessary EU harmonised standards as opposed to British standards cost my company 10s of thousands. We inevitably passed those costs on to our customers.
That doesn't make sense. Or are you saying our standards are lower ?

Lower is not the correct word

Why is it that because you don’t comply with some one else’s standards that some how yours / ours are lower

???????

Are our standards higher then? Be no effort at all to meet eu standards if so

Except for the colour scheme... it cost a hell of a lot of money to change the colour of everything because the EU said we had to!

And if we want to sell abroad what standards do we have to meet ?
If it was just "selling abroad" then that wasn't a problem!

But when you are being told that you have to follow their standards in the UK (even when it's something as insignificant as the colour of a cable) then it gets a bit ridiculous...

We had to change wire.

Was there much else involved ?

Did it make sense long-term, especially when selling electrical items in eu

Was it an overnight thing, or phased in ?

I can't remember the exact details, but I heard someone on the radio a while back (a farmer I think) on the radio telling a story about how he had to get produce tested for something which had never ever been detected in the UK... He had to do the tests as it had once been an issue "somewhere" in th EU so it was a "requirement"...
Hearsay

Higher ??

There animal welfare standards are pretty **ss poor

Plus we ended up with horse meat dressed up as beef

Plus they have been dumping some of there s**te boilers into the UK for years

Historically Mostly French carp

Its not so much EU standards as International Standards i.e. ISO. These standards are agreed amongst most international standards bodies. In our case represented by the British Standards Institute on behalf of the british government no matter which party.

These same british standards are developed by representatives from british industry, in the old days it would have been the national coal board, british steel, society of motor traders, british gas etc, etc. depending on which standards were being discussed, updated or amended.

If anyone had to make major changes then its the fault of your negotiating body. A huge number of current ISO standards are taken from the previous british standards with very little change.

It is true.

This Brexit supporters ideas that the UK can ditch thousands of standards is simply false.

EU standards are largely harmonised from international standards, many were harmonised from British standards in which the British played a major part in negotiating

Brexit has increased costs for businesses…if it hasn’t increased costs for your business then you obviously don’t export to EU or import supplies from them.

I’m sure farmers are now over the moon since UK govt is not helping with same level of subsidies

oh and I’m sure all those farmers are over the moon watching their fruit and veg rot in the fields due to lack of seasonal EU workers
