I can't remember the exact details, but I heard someone on the radio a while back (a farmer I think) on the radio telling a story about how he had to get produce tested for something which had never ever been detected in the UK... He had to do the tests as it had once been an issue "somewhere" in th EU so it was a "requirement"...
