If employers are exploiting the benefits system why doesn't the government raise the minimum wage to maybe £10 or even £15 ph that way less money for shareholders but more money paid in tax by workers and less taxpayers money being used to subsidise the profits of employers.You've actually answered your own question earlier; we have too many people who'd decided sitting on their arse and being looked after by the state, is an acceptable lifestyle choice that they are completely entitled to.
But people work on zero hours contracts, because whilst a few like the flexibility, if it's the only job you can get, then that's what you have to take. A recent survey said that 1 in 4 graduates say their degree has been a waste of time, and some stats suggest it's even higher. But employers know they don't need to increase the wages they pay, because the benefits system will top the wages up. The likes of Sports Direct have a lot to answer for.
