A degree doesn't mean someone doesn't know what they are doing. To me it sounds like she has real world experience, unlike most in politics (even labour) who are brought up with a silver spoon in there mouth and generally have no idea about the real world and it's issues.
They do have advisers who are well schooled in economics etc, it's rarely the MP that come sup with plans, it's more they are given a number of plans and they pick the one they think most suitable.
Real world? Well she was a union rep..
She's coming across as just another lowest-common-demoninator gob. That doesn't qualify her to pick an economic plan. I wouldn't expect her to come up with more than "Tax them bosses and give us the money for the workers". Voting labour I'd want more than that.
