Budget

Its much easier for firms who have high paid staff than low paid staff, to dodge the tax rises.

Party of Business, party of working people
In other news -- or the same news and this is after tipping the markets the wink before the budget

The most widely leaked budget ever. The speaker told the government off for disrespecting the house, by leaking it so much.

Leaked is not tipped off.

Tory growth 0%
Forecast growth under Labour 2%

Tory: party of stagnating economy, destroyed services, no wage growth
Labour: party of sorting out 14 years of Tory destruction.

They are usually private businesses at the end of the day. Time to make the receptionist redundant and replace him or her with an iPad.

Labour - the party for working people

In some countries, there are charitable or religious organisations that provide education without charging fees.

You may have heard of such a thing.

VAT on school fees would be a matter of no consequence to them

And poorer families would be at less of a disadvantage.

Even Britain has some.

Funnily enough, Education is considered a charitable aim.

Love all the made up nonsense ...company cut contracts of dear SIL stands out, wow the business acumen on show, so you need to make slightly more money to cover costs and then you start slinging the workforce needed to make that money out on their ear...god knows how any of these companies coped when fuel was at 180p per litre.

Try working out the sums..30k salary 10 workers

Old system
NI threshold, 9100, leaving 20900 to be taxed @ 13.8% = 2884.2 per employee.

total bill = 28842.

New system

NI Threshold 5000, leaving 25000 to be taxed @ 15% = 3750 per employee

total bill = 37500

less 10,000 rebate

=27500 to pay... wtf are all these small business complaining about their tax bill went down...

SIL works for a company who has contracts with 2 large companies. Had interviews lined up for extra staff next Monday. Had 3 phone calls yesterday, all work to be invoiced to date for the 2 main contracts, further work has been cancelled, and cancel the interviews. Company now has to find £450K of savings because of budget changes.
Strange they had interviews booked knowing a tough budget was upcoming

Every business only employs people if it is cost effective.

If this budget has suddenly made them realise they don't need a receptionist I'm surprised they are still in business
