I think common sense would rule out going 20 odd miles on a small boat in the sea in exchange for access to the NHS.

Common sense is in short supply.
Plus, you have no idea what yarn the migrants have spun to them.

"The British will pick you up just out there, and then you're in."
We've already recently seen the French shepherd some boats out, watching over them until effectively handing them over to the Border Force.

but I do totally agree with this:

It does bug me that the hatred is aimed at the refugees / economic migrants / asylum seeker instead of the organised crime that creates it.

I believe there are 5 beaches that are mostly used in France, I suspect the French arent as vigilant as they could be -who could blame them.

I dont think selling an inflatable boat to a group of people at an extortionate cost is breaking the law , what the people do with the boat is up to them .

August is the traditional summer holiday.
But seriously, those beaches are full of sand dunes. The only way to patrol them is on foot, or with some sort of aerial device.
But with a drone, byt the time you've spotted someone and got there, they'll be long gone.

A helicopter swoops over the northern French coast, its spotlight racing across the deserted beach on a freezing January night, looking for migrants who might put out to sea trying to reach nearby England.

But they enter the country illegally on a lilo. They often destroy their documents so they can claim to be from another country. Then they get free housing, food, medical, schooling, handouts, food banks. Sound like illegal freeloaders to me.
Claiming asylum is not illegal!

It's a caricaturesque statement similar to your comments, like this:
and like this:

LoL. Best one I ever heard.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
You are living in dream land boyo.
They come here because free housing awaits them, social security care, nhs care.
And the left wing re-tards promote the dream with zealour fervour.

Only if granted asylum - then they're not illegal.
Otherwise they can't claim.

It's not you being upset with the 'hand outs' that's wrong, it's the 'illegal 'part! They're not illegal if they get access to benefits.

the smugglers are often doing the deals outside of Europe -back in Iraq, Syria, Turkey etc

they organise the transport getting them to the French beaches and the boat.

its a huge operation £5billion....considerably more than the UK fishing industry.

French authorities are encouraging this channel crossing caper ;)

Probably hands on help as well with sourcing rubber boats ;)

Never trust the French

There foreigners

Your stupidity is really tedious.

what is it like going through life having a total lack of ability to comprehend more complex, nuanced arguments.
