Unfortunately, under his original username he was warned numerous times about abusive postings on the forum. Sadly he did not heed the warnings and persisted which ultimately resulted in a permanent ban. Subsequent incarnations using supposedly 'covert' means (proxies etc) have been disabled when found.
We don't take banning a user lightly, in fact disregarding spam accounts it hasn't happened very often over the years, but when warnings are issued and persistently disregarded, there is no other option.
Take care and send my regards to those that knew me.
So I repeat, as kev has said, WHY not ban others who have been abusive? Or is it only a banning offence if you have a go at a Mod and/or Admin? With respect, when abusive posts are removed publicly from the forum, they are logged and recorded, because you don't recall them doesn't mean it didn't happen. Sometimes a mods action may appear harsh because you can only see the aftermath - both sides of the story cannot be seen, but anything removed by a mod is accessible by admin.
is half a crown a tiarra??.......

Dear Admin,
I have quite a good memory and I recall accurately that I started a thread and submitted a poem entitled 'Owed to Hiawatha', based loosely on Henry Wadsworth Longfellows' similarly named tome.
It was a thought-invoking, only slightly cutting, observation on the content of certain posters' abusive posts, and I didn't object to anyone's replies, yet the whole thread was deleted.
Any explanation for that one?
