Death in the channel…again

For the economic illegal immigrants - My only route to living in Beverly Hills would be to rob a bank, doesn't make it legal for me to do so.

RNLI involved despite the incident being well inside French waters.

Typical French ( scoundrels)

Obviously having another clear out of migrants ? To the UK ?

Either that or there plods brown envelopes are drying up
Or getting thinner ??

And you only have to look at the nationalities of the illegals to know that they aren’t refugee
Yeah, what's not to like about Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq!?

For anyone who isn't following things in detail the numbers from Albania are down something like 90% this year.

There's an article in the guardian about Wilders and reading the comments I was surprised by how many comments that proved popular amongst the readers, were along the line of you ignore the electorate, don't expect them to keep coming back for more.
Hilary Clinton found that out the hard way.
I mean, yes, voters for Trump are a "basket of deplorables"; just don't say it out loud, dear.

Unfortunately we don’t live in that world.

We live on a small over crowded island with apparently crumbling and overstretched public resources that have to cope with 3/4M more people each year.
Net migration was at about 750,000 last year, the highest so far.
How do you arrive at an increase of 3 - 4 million each year without stretching the imagination?

And you only have to look at the nationalities of the illegals to know that they aren’t refugees. They may be able to argue asylum by fleeing other kinds of persecution. But not refugees as per the intent of the convention.
You should offer your services to the Home Office, for asylum applications. You could cut the waiting list in the first week to zero, just by looking at the asylum seekrs.

No comment on the morality of the issue, but to call the trafficked "mariners" is a stretch.

I've got a collection of RAB gear and have walked in the hills, but it don't make me a mountaineer.
When you're on a mountain, you're a mountaineer.

They aren’t illegal immigrants.

People who arrive here without the legal documents and don’t apply for asylum are illegal immigrants, they get arrested and deported

People who arrive here with the legal documents and apply for asylum are not illegal immigrants, they are asylum seekers who have a fully legal status.

And where is your evidence they are economic migrants

We have overstretched public resources because we keep getting Conservative govts which you vote for.

And we have 750,000 net migration because of policies put in place by Conservatives that you vote for

So they just say it's a fair cop guv send me back.
They don't entertain the idea of disappearing and working in the blank economy then.

Did you skip maths at school 3/4M = three quarters of a million. About 750,000. Last time I checked.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

If I’d meant three to four million I’d have said 3 - 4M :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Anyone (apart from a few exceptions) who arrives via small boat, illegally etc. No longer has a right to claim asylum in the UK. We discussed this last time - it's in the Illegal Migration Act 2023. So I am correctly referring to them as illegal immigrants.

And you know the sad part, knowing people who work with these people, is that those who risk everything in order to get here generally are far more invested in forging a life for themselves and contributing to the economy

If they want to come and contribute to the economy - there are many ways to do it:

paying trafficking gangs is not the right way.

No, it's not as simple as that.
There was a sharp fall in the numbers of Albanians arriving in small boats – from 10,000 to 860 - though experts said it was unclear what was driving this.
