But as for tourism. When a few wealthy people own a lot of houses for income ( but don't live there) from tourists and force locals (who work and live in the area) to move away, there is an issue. The area becomes very seasonal on income then.
The people buying the houses/apartments are the very locals themselves. Lets watch the economy collapse espicually in the canary islands as being a holiday destination is just about all they do.

Almost everyone we know including us that would normally go to Spain, went to Crete this year. The Cretans weren’t complaining.
Are Crete charging the same 10euro per night tourist tax as the rest of Greece. - If so they can stuff it in their kebab.

Yes, we paid 10 euros per night tourist tax but that was because we were in 5 star accommodation. It is cheaper if you go in cheaper accommodation though.
