Here come the excuses

The longer you're around, you realise the old saying is true when it comes to all political parties, namely they're as bad as each other, albeit to varying degrees.

If anyone's waiting for a squeaky clean political party/government, they're going to have a very long wait ...

Yep, it is all about the degree.

The way our system is, lobbyists, interest groups, and donors are unavoidable.
Not all are detrimental to the interests of sane people, nor are self-serving.

But, in the end, the government hold sway.

The last lot sold us out, while enriching themselves.
This lot, even if they fall short in areas, won't.

Labour should not allow itself to be influenced by lobbyists

Is it a surprise that the Conservative government has screwed up this country by mishandling everything. As others have said, winning the election is a poisoned chalice considering the mess created by incompetent and corrupt tories.

The euro is mainly to benefit the Germans and holds the weakened southern European countries back.

Why do you think that the UK and Poland never joined it
I can remember Italy, Spain and Greece pre Euro, as a tourist everything doubled in price, if not more.

The Euro is structurally flawed, it forces very different economies to fit a single set of fiscal rules which as you say is fine for Germany but bad for Southern Europe.

It would’ve been a mistake for UK to join the Eurozone, especially given the power of London as one of the top banking centres in the world.

Whoever won was going to face a right mess with no easy way out…especially as Tories salted the earth before leaving with an unfunded cut to NI and a prison service about to collapse

In 2010 the Tories took over with a serious financial mess, but they had the benefit of very low interest rates and public services in good shape (NHS had lowest waiting times ever)…..it’s a whole lot worse now

Most benefit eventually and get a lot of help developing infrastructure - particularly roads. Best way to get an idea is look at their net contributions compared with what they should pay. Sometimes it's more back than put in for a while. A lot more. It's called levelling up.

The other point "It suites Germany" is a pretty ancient anti eu comment. Fact is currencies need to be controlled hence their central bank. Grease is an interesting example - what they were doing monetary wise just wasn't on.

Yes, think of the exchange fees they wouldn't be earning.
