Independent states have boarders or choose to have none. As SI is in the EU going that way would achieve nothing unless NI joined the EU.

Which wouldnt be long coming.

What that would do is apply the EU problem to all UK exports and stick some sort of tariff on the other way round unless the UK did a trade deal with them to avoid that. Then the EU would feel that the level market was under threat unless the UK agree to tariff free on all EU exports here.

Article 6 Protection of the UK internal market 1. What a cop out. The actual agreement it refers to included the infamous border in the sea complete with customs checks. Remember the fantastic IT that was going to appear. Even if that is available there is still a problem with mixed goods exports as every one of them needs a separate piece of paper.
