Farage Kent Coast discuss

Long distance doesn't come into it. The regulations don't specify a distance.

Secondly, you don't need a card to be a journalist. It's a self-run scheme anyway.

What's a self run scheme?

You're right you don't need to be able to prove you're a Journalist by being a member of a trade body, but it's like someone signing off Part P electrical work, you should be able to demonstrate that you're a Journalist and more or less all reputable ones have some form of accreditation.

It's something run by the journalists themselves, not an independent organisation.

The National Union of Journalists? Why is indepedence required and from whom? Don't tell me that Garage has decided to go for another referendum!?

Long distance? We're not supposed to travel other than local.

Without an accredited journo card, you'd not be allowed into press conferences, events and probably would get kicked out if a major news story broke and is protected from the general public and allowing journo's only in. So... yes, anyone can call themselves a journo but they aren't. I can call myself a surgeon but I'm not!

Farage is nothing more than someone filming himself and sticking it up on social media - we can all do that but it doesn't make us journalists!!!

Where in the CV Regs does it say only local travelling?

As for the NUJ, that's a bit like us electricians belonging to an association that says we are all electricians and it must be OK because we say so!

It is possible to be a member of the NUJ and not have a card.

IF garage is a broadcaster, he is a radio host.
He claims to be a journalist through LBC where he has a phone in.

I had a bloody good look through his wiki page and there is no mention of being a journalist.

I had a bloody good look through LBC's videos and his beach speech does not appear

https://www.police.uk/advice/advice...19/travel-restrictions-and-essential-workers/

"Essential travel does not include visits to second homes, camp sites, caravan parks or similar, whether for isolation purposes or holidays. People must remain in their primary residence. Not taking these steps puts additional pressure on communities and services that are already at risk."

I suppose you think Farage's travel is necessary? Well, I don't think so, especially as he is not a journalist.
I'm a bit concerned that the regs have passed you by, I thought everyone in the UK knew what the lockdown measures are? It's been all over the news often enough... Do you understand the reasons why they are asking people to stay local, or do you want to possibly spread the virus and good people in the rescue services have to risk themselves to rescue muppets like this?

And I guess, by your reluctance to understand not everyone who declares themselves a journalist actually IS a journalist that you're a supporter of fake news? Because that's what it can mean. I'd rather read my news from a reputable news source, with qualified journalists (be it a journo who has worked several years in the job or has qualifications) than a blogger who declares himself to be a journo....

Sod, your two links are "guidance", albeit from the Government, and "interpretation" from the police.

Doesn't the law say people can go to work unless they can do it from home - no mention of 'essential'?

I don't want to defend Farage but if he considers inspecting the coast to be part of his work, then surely it is alright to do that.

But that's the whole point - what part of going to the coast is part of his work? He's not a journo. Is he working at all or is it a job that he gave himself?
