Farage Kent Coast discuss

The cops seem to make it up as they go along.
Some forces have threatened to force drivers to stop and account for their journeys this weekend, despite the fact that there is no legislation in place to allow this. Others have said they will capture registrations using ANPR and send out automatic fines.

The legislation gives them an ability to ask you to stop and account. The ANPR fine thing (which I've also heard) gives them a problem.

Why haven't we seen the recruitment ads and training schools yet, for half a million new border guards and customs officers?
Perhaps the government are waiting for an expert to advise and organise them. Quickly now, put your laptop down, get out of your pyjamas and get yourself up to Downing Street quick as you can.

If the government was actually planning to carry out checks, they would have started recruiting and training staff do do it.

Obviously they aren't.

This will be a great disappointment to Brextremists when they find out.

I have not seen this in the legislation. However, if it is a case of "ask", then, they can ask all they like, you do not have to tell.

Don't forget there are 3 acts specific to Covid, plus the police and criminal evidence act.
1. Coronavirus Act 2020
2.The Health Protection (Coronavirus) Regulations 2020
3. The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020
4. Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984

What you can and can't do is in 3., what they can do is covered mostly in 2. But its 4 that comes in to play once a person is a suspect for a "Covid crime".

Something like this. French at last getting serious (at last) rather than encouraging these people. It's not an insurmountable problem. Just needs the will to take strong action, in the way that the Australian authorities do without letting do-gooders set the agenda.

Cue bleeding hearts.

Presenting something like this (which is nearly a year old) and suggesting that "France is now getting serious (at last)" is not exactly related. Especially when the article itself refers to actions taken up to 10 months previously, i.e. August 2018.

That's why I said "Something like this". Don't know why the actions being 10 months ago matters, when it was just a suggestion of things that can and are being done. Just one option. Obviously it's not enough.

Another nonsense post from RAC.

it wasn't. To go out in France people needed to go to the web and print a reason for it. That was then looked at if needed by the Police as a check and was.

I have never seen these laws LOL they covered that yonks ago - no knowledge of a law isn't a legitimate defence.

 With all the chat on here in the past about thinking these were guides and shown to be laws it's surprising that some don't know that they are laws. They went through parliament extremely quickly - unlike other covid aspects.
