flue runs down wards??

Well, that is something else I didn't know.

I guess that is part ignorance and partly because I've never specified Baxi Pott boilers. I checked the Worcester MIs here for a couple of non-condensers earlier and they don't permit it.

Most pre condensing boilers specified the flue to run downwards slightly towards the outside to prevent rainwater been blown or dripping and flowing back in to the boiler.

Condensing is the opposite to cause condensate to flow back in to the boiler
all a bit basic really.

Absolute boll'xs can you tell me how a balanced flue boiler with the flue box coming off at 90 degrees was meant to look downwards . Show me one manufacturer that said in MI angle flue downwards.

You are quite right namsag, whilst there is a very slight deline allowed to prevent water ingress the deliberate downward installation just ain't allowed...some clarity here please

Slight decline on the old square jobbies - Like I used to fit before CORGI - I thought that was just the Gas Fitters unable to cut a straight hole through a brick wall

The guys original post is about a ff boiler not balanced flue, kets stick to the point of the original post. who brought bl33din balanced flue jobbies in to it ? aint been able to get them for years apart from water heaters.

oh and gas fires, sooo if a wall a boiler is fitted on isn't 100% level, then technically the flue would have a slope on it, just thought I would try to be akward, which is difficult for me

Are you asking for a fanned flued M.I that says angle flue downwards away from boiler ??? If so ??

Ferroli Falcon , I.C.I caldaie Solar range & there are many more !!!

Yes transam there are !

its just one of those little things you'd try and slope the flue pre condernsers
down towards the outside (without straining it) to stop rainwater running in to the boiler. why ? because you were taught that and in time you'd go to boilers where the customer says "Everytime it rains the boiler Leaks !"

No reply from the idiot I see.

Just cos the wall slopes it dont mean the boiler has to !

Fitted a boiler perfectly plumb on a wall that was 3' thick and sloped back 8 degrees. Corgi inspector was intrigued how I'd done it .
Actually it was a piece of pi55.

Gasbanni . Your comment was most pre condensing gas boilers stated fit flue slightly downward .
Well vast majority of pre condensors out there where balanced flue not fan flued so i still stick with comment . Balanced flue boilers did not say angle flue downward

Very very few balaced flue boilers out there now, to come across one is a rarity I might get called to one .....what once maybe twice a year.
Fan flued are the norm.

My post has been proved to be correct from MI point of view and actual experiance. One point that you made is correct manufacturers advising to angle the flue slightly down whilst the flue elbow is at exactly 90degrees is rather stupid. Which also shows you were actually talking about fanned flue as well when you came out with your garbage accusing me of not knowing what i was talking about. We all learn things everyday you would have been better viewed had you admitted your mistake and come out with " well thats something I didnt know I stand corrected" To maintain your position when presented with clear evidence you didnt know existed is rather a poor show on your part. Admitting a mistake is a strength not a weakness. Everybody makes mistakes myself included but through experiance not many with my trade........just as well.

The original post was about fan flued and my answer was on that basis.

your post about balanced flue......whose talking about them ?

you are.... why ? to prove a pointless point !
