Fossil fuel / climate protestors

You not think its all a bit contrived these protests closing roads and pouring milk away etc etc. All offences in their own right that could be acted upon. When the public are suitably enraged they won't mind a few more laws being brought in to curtail their freedoms as long as it deals with those pesky demonstrators eh.
It only appears to be contrived when you're looking at it through a twisted prism. Maybe clean your glasses, old bean?

You would say that wouldnt you my old fruit.
I did.

But you're implying the demonstrators are infiltrated by police in order for the government to enact stricter controls on our freedoms, yes?

No, just plain old let em self implode, then when their right to protest are even more restricted it'll be a case of duh never seen that coming.

But it's not just environmental protests that'll be limited by new restrictions, will it?

Are you putting it on? I think was my point.
That'll be a nice wheeze freezing protesters bank accounts, could never happen could it?

It might not be very eloquently put but in those 4 sentences Transam has actually hit the nail on the head.
I guess you'd have said the same about the suffragettes?

Jokes aside, I fully subscribe to our right to protest. We should never subscribe to the idea of no protests, no anti government/monarchy speech etc. These freedoms must and should be protected.

Having said that, after 30 mins tops, these folk should be forcibly removed from the location at which they protest if it impedes day to day activity by the masses.

I'm sure the skin on their glued hands would soon heal ...

Read that back to yourself...

You have just trashed the idea of freedom of protest...

And who are you to decide that 30 minutes is all that should be allowed?

I don't need to read it back. My proposals are usually spot on and extremely logical. Under my plan ...

Can I protest?
Yes.
Can I protest about anything?
Yes.
Can I protest anywhere?
Yes*

* If you protest in an area/space that significantly impedes the movement of the general public in their day to day activities, the police will move you on after approx. 30 minutes. You will be given the opportunity to remove yourself, if you do not accept this opportunity, you will be forcibly removed.

Who am I to decide on 30 minutes you ask? This is a FRIGGIN FORUM, not a debating chamber within government where policy will be decided ;)

people want to protest crack on I say . It will change nowt imo

but why should people have there day to day lives disrupted by a bunch of fruit cakes gluing them selves to a road or other infrastructure

stopping trains leaving a station because they have clambered on the roof

or chained themselves to a bridge

and cause mayhem

stuff there rights , they should be asked politely to move or clear off , there after maximum force imo

they can take there whinging to A&E

The UK should sanction the use of water cannons , like alot of our EU neighbours ;)

seek advice from the French ?

The protesters were blocking the famous Abbey Road zebra crossing today. Cars were going along the pavements to get past them.

I'd like to see these protesters glue themselves to a main road in, say, Bradford, Blackburn or a similar vibrant multicultural town where standards of driving are....well, there are no standards of driving in those places. It would be mutually assured destruction!

Went past some protest camp today

It’s at stone henge

Dunno what they are protesting about tbh

Some road works ? They have been there for ages a sort of full time camp

Probably all bombed out of there eads but they don’t appear to be causing hassle

Even some notice on a tree about popping in for a cup of tea and a chat
Yeah; 'some road works'

A Channel Four prog last night highlighted the power of protest at Greenham Common, when most posters on here would say they were a bunch of stoned lesbians causing trouble...but they did get their message across - and the missiles were removed.

Stand up for your rights. It's damned hard to get 'em back when they're gone.

Trusses parents campaigned at Greenham Common, they took their daughter.

John Truss, a mathematics professor is way further to the left than Corbyn.

They must be sp proud of their daughter…..

Doubt they got the missiles removed

And at the end of the day even if they did

It’s made no difference imo

Plus there peace camp ?? Protest did not really make much difference if any to peoples lives
