Fossil fuel / climate protestors

I don't need to read it back. My proposals are usually spot on and extremely logical. Under my plan ...

Can I protest?
Yes.
Can I protest about anything?
Yes.
Can I protest anywhere?
Yes*

* If you protest in an area/space that significantly impedes the movement of the general public in their day to day activities, the police will move you on after approx. 30 minutes. You will be given the opportunity to remove yourself, if you do not accept this opportunity, you will be forcibly removed.

Who am I to decide on 30 minutes you ask? This is a FRIGGIN FORUM, not a debating chamber within government where policy will be decided

Have you heard about PSPO and how it affects protest?

I'll give you a hint...

30 minutes doesn't apply, it can be imposed beforehand...

So your right to 'protest' about 'anything'/'anywhere' doesn't exist...

Methinks you aren't exactly 'spot on' !

A 15 minute neighbourhood is a good way to reduce people's carbon footprint. How well its done is another matter.

In the Netherlands, the carbon footprint per head is lower than many other comparable countries for this reason. Compare this with car infested hellholes in the US, where they sit in traffic jams to pick up groceries.

Althugh the Dutch seem better at joined up thinking, which is where we often fall down on.

We need more cycle paths of course, to help realise these aims.
Completely clueless idea. I can't get to anything in 15 minutes, unless I drive. Then I can get 11 miles or so depending on direction. If I lived a couple of miles away I'd have shops, station, bus route. So, what are they going to build for me?
Sounds like crap an 11 year old schoolkid dreamt that up.

All these conspiracy theories are begining to bear fruit now. Climate change (who says the scientists?) coming hot on the heels of a 'virus' a 'war' and an undemocratic overthrow of a leader.
Climate change credits wonder whats involved in that package. Allowed out of your zone once a week, holiday abroad once every five years, sure some of the commanders on here can put forward some of their favourite wheezes to save the planet.

Look at me, I've sprayed paint over a building to highlight the issues of climate change. Ok, it'll need washed off by someone who possibly isn't earning much but hey ho. Last week I poured milk all over a supermarket floor for the same cause. Ok, it was then down to workers on or near minimum wage to clean it all up but hey ho. Aren't I clever, aren't I smart :)

No, you're a t w a t.

I'm assuming all these tree huggers don't want ANYTHING whatsoever to do with ANY goods or services that perhaps have less than great environmental credentials e.g. in their supply chain. If they fall ill and require hospitalisation, they'll refuse any medication or other assistance if the medicine etc used is manufactured in a way that contributes to global warming? They obviously won't use things like trains because let's face it, things like the tracks probably consume a lot of energy to be manufactured. And they won't live in houses that perhaps have materials in them that used a lot of energy to manufacturer. etc etc.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say they are trying to create a society where you actually can get things within 15mins of where people live (for city dwellers). Like I said, other cities in the world (mainly Netherlands) can acheive this with some joined up thinking.

I can only repeat - I can't get anything in 15 minutes. Post box is all.

Lets say I could walk at 2mph. 15 minutes is 1/2 mile. My circle is a mile across.

Are they planning to put a range of e.g., primary and secondary schools in a 1 mile circle? Supermarkets? Swimming pools?
If I'm allowed a car it's meaningless.

It sounds like a very intelligent idea to me.

Protest

I have never been on a protest and never intend to

tbh not that bothered about any law over the caper

Allowed out of your zone once a week,
Actually when you get your electric car you are very likely to find that you will be kept in your zone to some extent for the simple reason the grid can not provide enough electricity to totally circumvent that. That's the wiring. The stuff that sticks the power in is a different subject.

Don't think you'll be allowed a car they'll be a need to get them off the road so they can have these driverless cars picking you up to take you to mill.
