Fruit and veg ‘will run out’ unless Britain charters planes to fly in farm workers from Europe

Just like Andy11 you cant take it to the next level of debate.

Go on explain how unemployed can be fruit pickers, talk me through how it would work.

They are "job seekers" are they not?
I thought it was the case that if you refuse work, you lose the benefits?
Didn't IDS sort this all out some years ago?

I'm sure the law could be changed if not already so.
Given the turmoil that we face.

Lets see notchy make his third swerve on this one.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I don't think you can force people to take a job that they don't want, or are suited to, last time we looked we had free-will. You can have benefits cut, AFAIK, if someone keeps saying no to jobs that are a suitable match but I think if have a legit reason to say no, benefits aren't effected.
However, it's a nice idea that people will pitch in and help anyway in this time of need.

Oh dear, your ad hominem attack is a rather weak attempt to distract from your answer that was of no relevance.

The reason for choosing an older article was because I was responding to this:

Ie the period 2016 to 2018

I think you will find 2017 fits in that period

Also there has been a loss of immigrant workers in the agriculture sector since the ref in 2016 up to the present day.
Which has since only got worse due to the toxic environment caused by the home office and Tory propaganda.

And this problem is also very current -its been in the news this week.

To be fair, whatever is happening now is more global pandemic related, and will affect workers migrating anywhere in Europe.

Ryler is squirming, he cant answer how UKs unemployed can sort out shortage of fruit and veg picking.

Perhaps Ryler hasnt considered that unemployed people don't conveniently live right next to a fruit farm
Perhaps Ryler hasnt considered most unemployed people live in towns.
or Perhaps Ryler thinks fruit farms are located in towns

Ryler and Andy11 have a typical right wing attitude that solving unemployment is easily done.....but they conveniently avoid going into detail, where their trite comments fall apart in a second.

notchys usual hogwash.
Only full of desperation this time.

In fairness, eastern Europeans don't always conveniently live next door. Most of these big farms have live in dormitories I suppose you would call them.

I suppose they might as well stop growing fruit and vegetables as not many people live where they grow.

How do they manage to build roads between where people live?

eastern Europeans don't always conveniently live next door.

They travel many miles each year and many stay in the farm accommodation as you say. Or get lifts from the towns/cities out to the farms.
Persuading our own "job seekers" to do something like that I must admit would be a big ask.
It would be a breach of their human rights to swap the designer traynor's for the wellies.
