Aren't the American Indians the only 'true' Americans? All the 'white' people there are immigrants. OK so the American whites have been there for a few hundred years now but your ancestors must have been immigrants, going off to the 'new land'. I have read enough American history books to know this is true
I can understand if you are unhappy with immigrants who come into USA and don't want to work etc but I thought your govt. had measures in place to stop that happenening (green card etc).
Immigration has and always will happen and really, Americans can hardly complain about others wanting to come into 'their' country when they themselves descended from immigrants.
I wonder how the poor Indians felt when their homeland was taken over by white people and they were forced onto their reservations.

These people are here working for mega rich landowners and farmers, the same crowd who are milking the EU, after they have finished ripping off migrant workers we are left to pick up the tab. This is not a racist comment just an economic fact and it wants stopping. If the farms can't afford staff they are bankrupt businesses. In the long run it will be cheaper to import the food rather than the staff. We do this with every other product which is why we have little manufacturing industry left.

Here is a radicle step that will stop the rot. Scrap all civil service and public sector pensions. It is all well and good supporting this influx when the taxpayer bails out ones future. If we are to have a real market economy let it apply to everyone.

Excuse me but my hubby works for the govt. Whilst I'm not prepared to reveal what he does for a job I suppose you would class it as 'civil service'. He works from 6am until 6pm or 9pm every night and usually at least one day on the weekend too. He is quite hig up in his field and earns less than 30K a year. Most blokes doing the job he does are either signed off at least once through mega stress or heart attack during their careers, thankfully mine copes pretty well.
Would you like to see his pension poured down the drain? He also did 10 years in the British army and served in some goddamn awful places. I think he deserves ever hard earned blardy penny of the measly pension he will get. Not all civil service workers sit behind desks and work a 30 hour week you know. Some, like mine get called out at all hours of the day and night and work more Xmas days than they have at home. I'd like to see some of the people who knock 'civil service' jobs do the job that he does.

I personally think that whilst it is very sad that those workers were killed, I also believe in fate and think that when your number is up you're a gonner anyway. If they hadn't had their lives tragically ended here then they probably would have been taken in some other way in their country of origin. I hope they rest in peace.

We all have an opinion. And I see your point. I think I was in the right church, wrong pew.....I was talking mainly about equality in my country.
When you open the gates for all, it is a trade off (usually down the road) I think I was thinking of a simpler time when everything wasn't so hard and political and scrimp and scrape for every little dime, just to be left out in the cold. There are education grants for african americans, mexicans, asian, indians, etc......I don't think that is wrong. But if you are white, female, middle class (yes we have levels), work full time
you can't catch a break... I don't usually discuss politics or religion, in person or in chat forums, but I saw a similarity to what Slogger was saying (sad but true) and spoke up. I try to see other peoples' perspectives-I always learn something.

There are plenty of foreign guys working with him too OK so you don't believe me about the long hours he works? He is on a salary and gets no overtime pay - he has to take time in lieu. He is contracted to 35 hours a week.....
However, he is always so busy that he has so many hours accrued it's ridiculous. He rarely gets a lunch break or a coffee break & this summer he actually took some annual leave - leave that was owed to him from 2 years previously. I think last years and most of the years before are still banked up somewhere....
Maybe he sould have taken the position in Iraq that he was offered, at least he'd have been paid for the hours he worked
How much do you earn in a year Paulbrown? Maybe we could get someone to do your job for half the wages too..... Anyway no one gets sacked to make way for 'Johnny Foreigner' as you put it. It would be called unfair dismissal - ever heard of that?
Are you against private companies giving their workers pensions too? Do you get any 'perks' in your job? Paid overtime? Lunchbreaks that you aren't paid for but end up working through?
