Identity crises?

"
Conservative MP Andrew Bridgen has said he does not know who the Chief Whip is.
Mr Bridgen was leaving the Carlton Club in central London where some Cabinet ministers were meeting on Wednesday evening.

Asked who the Chief Whip is, he told reporters: "I don't think anyone knows who they are now."

‘We are all Charles Walker’, says Tory MP

Maria Caulfield, the MP for Lewes, has said “we are all Charles Walker” after the senior Conservative launched a furious attack on the Government tonight."Tonight we are all Charles Walker," Ms Caulfield said, referring to his comment attacking those that put Liz Truss in power.

But Nadine Dorries tweeted: "Much as I love Charles, he did call to have the most electorally successful Con PM in a generation removed.
"Actions have consequences that we can’t always control. Having helped to remove Boris, he should now back Liz because as much as anyone, he helped to put her where she is."

With logic like that, I hope they bury Dorries somewhere deep, or SHE'LL be PM.

The whip problem seems to be down to telling the MP's that the fracking vote was a vote of confidence so if they don't vote as the gov wants they cease to be MP's. Then it seems after the vote some one announced it wasn't. The whip resigned followed by the deputy whip. As there was confusion can't be sure about the announcement being after the vote. Then a Labour MP called for an enquiry due to people being "man" handled in the Lobby, LOL can't say man handled any more. Maybe gender neutral handled. Seems Truss grabbed the whip and took he or she away.

C4 news was running while this was going on but only footage of the Labour MP was shown

Regardless of whether she can or can't turn things around, sometimes these things (rightly or wrongly) gather so much momentum, the only choice left for the leader (whether a business, football club, political party etc) is to leave.

This is situation Truss and the government are in. She needs to go, and soon.

So out of the mottly crew they can pick from who do you think they should opt for to turn it around?

They can't do this, doesn't matter who replaces her. Regardless of how much the current issues are home grown or due to global events, come the next GE, the tories will be out.

The Tory mp for Stroud, Siobhan Baillie, has tweeted she deosn't even know if she's still in a job after abstaining on last nights Fracking Fracas.
Yup, it's all going swimmingly at Tory hq.
The Chief Whip's going to be busy today - if they know whether she still has a job.
I've seen headless chickens run around with better coordination.

That's how things are forced through when a large percentage of an electorate is fooled into believing they live in a democracy...

In the UK we quite clearly do not have a democracy!

I wouldn't bet on it...

Our undemocratic electoral system is loaded in favour of the nasty party, and it may well be that the Scots will have gone their own way by then...

Even the Welsh have started to grow a backbone...

And a united Ireland in time is a given!

So that gives free rein to the nasty party in little england!

Playing devils advocate why the damage is done and had started before she was in power. It's easy to forget the interest rate rises Sunak was having to pay. Sure she has made it worse by assuming the money market is a bottomless pit for gov loans and that a simple change in corporation tax will solve all.
Fact is the country has had a series of crisis and not come through them wall and now there is another one. In some ways we added one ourselves - Brexit. It kept interest rates low but those that increased them didn't for long due to covid. The USA did increase them. In some ways they are more like the UK. An importing country. We can still export to the EU with the usual strings and also in some cases additional customs checks even tariffs if imports. One of the ERG's ideas is clearly to import stuff avoiding EU tariffs on some goods but hang on we ideally need to make and export stuff.

Maybe the brexiteers could tell us what we make that we can export?

Apart from special high end (not mass produced) goodies, and weapons for Ukraine/other wars?
