Homosexuality

An old school mate of mine is "ahem" Gay ( I hate that term ) we used to play rugby together at school and later on for a couple of clubs, we all knew he was a Iron but it never bothered us.(this was late 60's to late 70's)

He is a bloody good bloke and a laugh, and talk abut Gay radar he could spot the big butch bloke with that particular penchant in the bar afterwards a mile off.

He used to have us in stitches, so you are born like that you can't change it. I wonder how many blokes on here if their really honest get the horn over a bit of lesbian porn, same thing.

I don't understand this in the closet/coming out of the closet? So one day you have a gruff voice, and the next a feminine voice? I don't recall anyone being homosexual when I was growing up, but the media seems to push this idea, and homosexuals seem to thrive to promote themselves, with rallies etc..Maybe it's time to promote 'Being British and Proud', 'Being able to breed and proud', rather than to promote a subculture. NOBODY talked iffenimate in my youth, so where did the culture grow from?
.

Manchester's C anal Street  [/b]

You are what you are - if one of my kids ' came out ' and said that they were gay, I would still love them. Perhaps I wouldn't like the fact, but, they are still my kids.
It could be worse, they might be Muslims - fecked if I can speak to her through a letterbox ;)

Garyslater, thank you for your post, even on a forum such as diverse as this one I admire you for your openness. Unfortunately it seems others have not seen your post or choose to ignore it for some reason.
Over the years I have met/known many homosexuals of both genders and some of the things I can confirm about them are as follows.
1/ They are NOT child molesters/rapists etc.
2/ They do not talk about sex constantly, (unlike some heterosexuals).
3/ They have manly/womanly, (depending on their gender),feelings/emotions like any heterosexual.
4/ They do not have desires to change their sex.
5/ They can be the most genuine of friends who will stand by you through thick or thin.
6/ They will defend their right to be who/what they are with all their heart.
7/ They will not 'make a pass' at someone they know to be heterosexual.

In short, they are a damed good bunch of people.

You forgot to post the first line of my post..."I DON'T UNDERSTAND"..

And how can it be true that being homosexual, has helped evolution? By definition a same sex couple cannot reproduce.

It was inferred on TV (Larry Grason, Dick Emery, Kenny Everett, maybe Benny Hill), that a gay culture existed, but I was too young, and unaware of the culture at that time, so for me, not wrong, but unknown. I've many friends now, openly gay, both male and female, I've no problem with them, but it seems more mainstream now than when I was growing up.

it seems more mainstream now than when I was growing up.

Thats because it is more open now.

Also you are much wiser than when you were younger so are much more aware of things going on in the main world rather than your childhood world.

That is not an insult by the way.

Appreciated, but what I said in my origional post was that people - to me - were not iffeminate, so where did the change come from it being illegal, to come out, to talk in an iffeminate way? And when did women become 'butch', I don't recall 'butch', in media, or real life until fairly recently. I want to understand, that something that is forced underground, as it's illegal, that can change into something so 'camp'. When it is illegal, there is no camp. But when legal camp springs up? Why is that? I mean the change of voice. I recall nothing in history when being homosexual, when it was illegal, that anyone had a camp voice. But the voice changed when it was acceptable? Why the voice change? A type of drawling lisp, as opposed to the Australian raised voice at the end of a sentance? Does a gay person suddenly realise they like the same sex, and their voice alters overnight? Or is it overemphasised? To prove themselves? I don't understand...some person goes through life, then understand that they are gay, and their voice become feminine? Why?

As previously stated some of my best friends are gay, boy and girl, so you tell me.

Conny, shouldnt you have added the words "not all" to the post or was it your intention to imply they are different to most of us.

I must admit that I've never noticed it change overnight, if at all. However, if it does happen (as you have perhaps noticed from your own observations of friends who have "come out") then maybe they start mingling more within the "gay community" where the accent is prevalent and they begin mimicking (subconsciously) this way of talking in the same way that anyone's accent makes changes when they move to different parts of the country.
