"You can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time."
Hey! I thought that Bob Dylan said that.

Funny you should say that, theres been a few times I've had problems posting, but only on this subject. I was beginning to wonder if the mods are reading them just in case we were all going to far!

I mean, we all know we are only having a laugh but some may think otherwise.

Just looking thru a few quotes and it is amazing to see all the history of all the bad in the country. Did anybody forget probably the worst economic time in this country was under a labour government and the backlash of that was the tories trying to sort out the bloody mess left.
DICK, muppit is spelt MUPPET, just trying to help you out mate ;)

I agree,................Hey Dave wot do you think of this: "The tories believe that politics is about promoting fear. They have always based getting votes from people by encouraging fear: fear of crime; fear of asylum seekers or immigrants; fear of gay people; fear of trade unions;fear of single mothers; even fear of foxes! It is quite alarming to see how their MPs and councillors appear to be from the party of paranoia" ?. you know its true don't you ?

Fear factor they call it richardp, used to bother most people. Think the decline in law and order over the last seven years as made most immune though, don't you?

Well I,m Surprised you say that Dave because"the Tories can have no credibility on crime, their committed to an immediate cut of £1.6 billion from the Home Office Budget, meaning cuts to police numbers.the £35 billion Tory cuts plan will mean cuts to police numbers once again".

fear of gay people

(Adam takes a break from doing his "I don't care, this is all rather purile anyway" dance)

Now hold on a second, bub. I have 3 gay friends, they are all Tories. I don't know any gay people who (openly) support Labour. However, I do know a staunch labour voter who is incredibly homophobic, he is the only person I have met who has ever actually become violent when called "gay", even in jest.

Remember that by roots and tradition, Labour is a northern working class party. So in order that you may attempt to prove your silly point I suggest you wander into any working men's club in Middlesborough or Newcastle and start calling people gay at random.

When has there ever been a homophobic Tory policy anyway? I know there was disagreement against lowering the age of consent from 21, but approval and disapproval came from all quarters, it was never a party-dependent issue. In fact, "Chrome-dome" Hague himself voted not for a reduction to 18, but a reduction to 16, in line with the heterosexual age of consent.

I seem to recall Blair sacking a certain Welsh Secretary due to "allegations" that he might prefer his bed company to be of broader shoulder and deeper voice...

(Starts doing his "Labour sucks, I'm a Tory and think gay people are proper bo" dance)

Well Peter Tatchell says the Conservative Party claims to be more liberal-minded and caring, but in reality it still supports anti-gay discrimination the most telling symbol of continuing Conservative homophobia is the party's refusal to support gay equality on any issue. Whenever there is an attempt in parliament to overturn legal inequality, the Tories always vote for discrimination.

Only the form filling bureacrats richard, they don't mean coppers on the beat.(or should that be in a car).

You said earlier, elsewhere, you have a business so you know all about costs etc. You must also have dealt with public bodies and seen the way they go about things. The petty ways and duplicity, their totally unhelpful attitude, the stupid forms. There is no way you would run your business like them, if you did you would go under. You have the right amount of good staff doing a proper job. You don't waste things etc, this is why your business is sound.

Do you not think you should expect the same from the public sector? instead of ever increasing tax rises to featherbed them?

Consider the UK to be a business too, because we are, we must be competitive and these public overheads have an adverse effect on that competitiveness. Labour or Tory? all liars, but we have to live within or means in a more competitive world. This is why I don't want more people on benefits, be they foreign or our own, and why I am against more immigrants. I am not being racist, we have enough problems as it is.
