So now having sowed the seeds of colonialism, we all have to bear the fruits as well and we might as well, and enjoy freedom to move freely.
Except we can't, because being in the EU forbids us from making deals with the Commonwealth -the countries worth making deals with.

The other thing is human sensitivities, which i doubt you would understand, it is like Europeans saying Britain left EU because it couldn't give a ****e, so now comes to Europe, They wouldn't give two monkeys for Brits, this could spark rivalry and general bad feelings, over time they may or may not fade, Europeans will look at us traitors, having deserted EU and chickened out, our people settled in Europe will start getting similar treatment, discrimination, without any figures, there are quite a platoon who live and work in Europe.

If Germany left the EU would you suddenly start being racist towards Germans because they'd be traitors to the EU?

No, not me personally, but i can't say for others, but you know the rivalry between French and us still plays now and again, especially our remarks at their cars, I have never heard any Brit say good things for french cars, you can see this hostility towards French built cars, living proof!

Citroen DS totally outclassed the Austin Cambridge. Nothing remotely comparable for years in the UK.

Bugatti Royale a very fair effort.

Technically the DS was lightyears ahead of any other car but it did tend to dissolve quicker than a soluble asprin.

Do I remember that car, indeed with hydraulic suspension extremely smooth ride, unclampable if you lowered it to ground! In those days of DS21 I was mad about Hillman Minxes and Hunters, a true British car. Its production stopped in Coventry in 1977, after which the plant was shifted to Iran where they continued manufacturing them under their own name Pycan, and only recently they stopped the production!

Funny though, Rootes company was taken over by Chrysler, who then sold it to French Peugeot of France who made a few cars like Simca and Sunbeam.

So did most cars of that era. It was to do with the quality of the steel.
There were probably other influences also, like paint treatment, how long before painting, anti-rust treatments, joints, climate, salt on roads, etc.
Like most cars manufactured in the late sixties and early seventies, the DS wasn't adequately protected against rust.

Even in its day the DS was known as a "Rot box" more so than other cars of its era.

Evidence, supporting documentation?
Or just your hearsay, myths and imagination again?

You show me one reasonably informed opinion about the Citroen DS's rusting qualities and I'll show you many more such documentation about other makes, and models of that era.

When you're looking for supporting evidence, remember your quote: "more so than other cars of its era."

There is no need for me to present "supporting evidence" as it is not important, that mark of DS is not manufactured any more and so any survivors will have been corrected. If you feel that you need to learn more, please try Google...

Again! More assertions which you can't and even refuse to try to support with any evidence or supporting documentation, arguments, etc.

Just keep making these unsupportable assertions. It'll prove your inability to research your opinions before expressing them.

Himmy, I don't think compulsory verification was required until you came along.
It was and is a forum - really just like a chat in a pub.

If someone writes something you regard as wrong then just comment "I don't think that's correct" and give evidence if you want to - or not.
That will raise doubts in the minds of anyone reading both and if they are interested they can look it up.

If you merely disagree with someone's opinion then all you can do is disagree as it is their opinion right or wrong.

If you are that upset by written untruths, then I think it would be more beneficial to society if you crusaded against them (untruths) in newspapers; here - it doesn't really matter.
