And just when you think you understand it, Orthodox Jews (hats, ringlets etc.) are viewed with suspicion in Israel as they actually believe in the removal of the Israeli state as it is a human-construct, rather than made by God.

I don't think that is entirely true - non-Zionist Jews do not believe in the state of Israel as it is not peaceful, as God said in the land they would be given they would all live in harmony.

They won't serve in the army for the same reason, which makes them unpopular with the secular{ish} Israelis. they are enthusiastic settlers so the non orthodox jews get to take all the risks guarding them in settlements a lot of them think should be shut. Bizzare, but that's religion for you
