Makes My Blood Boil

what are you going to do then, sterilise them? Where do you draw the line then? I dont like the fact that they sponge money out of the system.

You explain to them that while on benefit, they are not allowed to have more children that the rest of us will have to support. You then send them on a half day compulsory course that will teach them all about contraceptives.

Then, when/if they have more children you don't increase their benefit.

No extra money compliments of the workers, would probably be a better contraceptive than any pill.

In the case of this particular couple, sterilisation would be my first choice.

so when did we become the peoples republic of china then

...why can't we just stop giving them money??

Surely we can kit out some old factory with beds and have them live there with state appointed canteens to feed them..I know it won't be pretty but I bet within one generation they would be so despised that no-one would breed unless they could support themselves.

The trouble with this is that it will be children that "suffer". It's not their fault that they were brought into this, ans as such we need to ensure that they are well tended both emotionaly and materially.

The actions of the adults is truly reprehensible to be sure, but short of sterilising them, there is no real solution that wouldn't create huge traumas for the existing children. Any parent on here will understand this fully not only logically but also emotionally.

...then take the kids away. Done.

Take the sky box and games machines away.
Give them books to read and jig saw puzzle for amusement.
Let them have a basic digital tv package paid for out of their benefits.

Thats for starters.
Any other 'sensible' suggestions?

Oh, and by the way.
There were 7 children in my family plus 2 adults. We were brought up in a 3 storey, 3 bedroom and attic house with outside lavatory and no bathroom. (Tin bath every Friday night, Dad was first in etc).
Also in that house lived my aunty and her 4 children, (her husband died 1957 from war injuries). I was next to youngest and I was 12 when we eventually moved to a house with a garden and inside loo/bathroom.

So make the kids suffer then (in relation to comparison with their friends at school)?

It's ridiculous that they can afford to have so many kids. I'd love more children but, because I'm working I can't afford to have any more. I don't see why I should have to contribute to the upkeep of their kids when I struggle tp provide for my own.

Just imagine, fourteen offsprings, each with the potential of having another fourteen offsprings each, ad infinitum, it does not bear thinking about. :p :p

What could be worrying is that the children go the same way as the parents. Then and if they have 14 of them, they might turn out just like their parents - spongers.

OK. Two questions then after doing this:
1/. What do you do about the adults who presumably will want to cotinue to procreate?

2/. These children- who is going to pay for their upkeep now? Care homes, foster parents or what? (These are more costly financially to maintain than the current arrangement)

2. Chimneys.
