motorways and roof bars

Why should I drive at 60 in the truck lane just so some ****** can speed in the middle lane?

as expected complete ignorance, where does it say in the highway code that the 1st lane is the truck lane, and alot of trucks are restricted to 56mph but in your own little bubble doing 70mph in the 2nd lane holding up motorists trying to make safe progress in modern cars you won't know any better

I carried a 6 foot by 3 foot fully DG window frame on the roof of my Xantia back from Hants a few annums ago. ;)

With, I might add, the blessing of a Mway cop.

The law only allows me to travel at 70 mph - you too. You use the roads on the condition that you abide by the highway code. You clearly shouldn't be on the road. What makes you think you can ignore the rules of the road? Do you park on double yellows? Drive wrong way up one-way streets? Jump red lights? So what makes you think it is OK to put every other road user at risk by speeding? I think it's you that needs to smell the coffee - not me.

what do you think lane 1 is for?

Trucks and caravans.

your one of them t**t who sits in the middle lane doing 57 mph next to ya, when where doing 56 and trying to move to the middle lane.
****** who is oblivious to whats going on around you.

Not only can you not write properly, neither can you read. When the first lane is full of trucks doing 56mph. I am overtaking in the middle lane at 70. You got a problem with that? If so - what is it? (in English please).

Nooo, it's great to see the utterings of one of those who sees a speed limit as just that, rather than a target :) ;)

A load like that offers minimal wind resistance and doesn't stick out anywhere. (I assume you had it flat.) In short it 'looks' OK - even if it might have been over the load limit for your roof. :?: :?: :?:

A sofa may not be any more dangerous a load than a heavy window; it just 'looks' like it might be.   There are lots of people out there who, upon seeing something unusual, instinctively believe that it must be wrong - and some of them will be traffic cops! I think you'll be pushing your luck.

And it gets worse. You might get one of those (hopefully rare) cops who, having stopped you for what turns out to be nothing, is determined to get you on something.   A few years back there was a case of a car being declared unroadworthy because a battery terminal wasn't secure    - and it wasn't even being driven at the time!

Is it not time the Mods locked this rubbish.

I agree. We must all adhere to the laws in this country. We don't decide which ones we will obey and which ones we won't. Excuse me will I urinate in public.

You speak for yourself Joe, the rest of us will decide which ones we're happy to comply with and which ones we aren't ... You should embrace difference it's what sets the human race apart from ... SHEEP!

We don't decide which ones we will obey and which ones we won't.
Errrmmmmmmm ... I think you'll find that we do ... Why do you think we have a police force?

To prevent anarchy. Do you see yourself as a crim then?

No, it was vertical. I had to open the windows to reduce resistance.

It was within load, though. The rack took a maximum of 75 K's.
