Mushroom foraging.

Didn’t have to forage far at all today. These have popped up on my lawn. May be 'Glistening inkcap'. Not poisonous, edible, not very flavoursome. Can’t try them out as Mrs Mottie is at home and she's against my latest hobby. :(

Nothing like it on the link. Perhaps it's a new species you've discovered! I don't suppose you'll be eating it, unless you can find more information.

But without the mica dust it says avoid eating incase it’s a woodland inkcap.

Easy to spot but they don't taste of much. Very much the tofu of mushrooms. Have you found any?

I saw the beginnings of a puffball in a field once, it was probably about 4” in diameter and thought I’d keep an eye on it but two days later it was smashed - I think it may have been trampled by a cow or another walker. I remember a programme by the wild forager Hugh Fearnley-Wittingstall once where he cooked one. He said they were tasteless and you had to work hard and be very inventive to get some flavour into them.

A mixture of flour and water: yummy ;)

When someone tells me that "pasta is healthy!", I ask for an example.

Typically (if it has any flavour at all), it isn't, because it has cured meats, cream, cheese and suchlike in an on it.

(I don't mind a chicken and pancetta pasta dish myself, but I'm not convinced that the double cream and extra mature cheddar that I mix in - not to mention the garlic bread side - is the food of champions)
