Would you be happy with 24 hour monitoring of where you go in your car. And its not just about knowing when you cook your dinner its what time you get up, when you go to work and return, how many people are in your house the sex of the people in your house, what you watch on tv, when you go to bed, when you get up, when you go on holiday, when you get back.

My car, does already track, and video every journey it makes. The census plus other departments, already know age and sexes in my home, already.

When a customer changes address it can take an age for the energy supplier to turn the gas back on.

Which goes to show, they can and do turn the supply off.

In some rare instances, energy suppliers can switch off energy supply.

If they follow the guidelines in place. I don't know what's so difficult to understand.

Some make it sound like you can be disconnected or switched on a whim.

The protocols for disconnection are exactly the same for both meters. You are no more likely to be cut off with a SM, as you are with an analogue.

They know perfectly well that the process of disconnecting you via a "self disconnection" is vastly simpler than the process of getting an order from a magistrates to force their way in to fit a pre-pay meter.

If it avoids the in debt consumer, having and additional cost added to their debt - then surely that is an advantage?
